    Kristen's Sketchbook

Hello! My name is Kristen and I have lurked on CA for quite a bit now.. I am a quiet sort of person so I'm a little nervous posting but looking forward to showing my stuff and getting feedback I'll just get onto it and post my sketches, hehe.

Im currently without a scanner, please forgive the quality of the photographs :<

    Welcome!

I really like the sketches, very nice style.. I don't think the pictures are of a very bad quality. They could be less orange, but that doesn't really matter. I can see what's going on ^^

Ofcourse I've only seen these sketches so I don't know what your drawing habits are, but an advice is to draw lots from reference, and then give your own fantasy swing to the drawing. So you get the basics right and you have freedom in your own drawing. A really good site to draw figures from is : www.posemaniacs.com/blog , I just found out about that one, so I just have to tell everybody about it

I'm looking forward to seeing more sketches from you
    love
    Marleen

Wow! That site is really awesome Marleen, thank you for the link :3 I like the 30 second poses, hehe. I really want to work to expertise in the human body especially, I want to eventually take an anatomy and physiology course for artists... I will try to do gesture drawings every day from that site and maybe sneak up on my mom for some life drawing too

Im currently taking a watercolor class! I was always very afraid of using watercolors, because they are so runny and etc.. but it was really just because I was using bad paper for it I think The class has really opened my eyes on watercolor and I enjoy it a lot more now! So here are some of my paintings from the class so far.

My favorite is the chinese teapot.

    cool drawings.

You could use photoshop to desaturated the images and maybe adjust the contrast, this will greatly improve their appearance. you should also then save the jpegs on a lower quality (8 or 9) so they won't take so long to load.

    keep posting!

i like your style. you choose nice and difficult angles for some of them.

my only suggestion is to not be afraid to really use the blackest of blacks when its appropriate. i sense that you've got some hesitation and like to stick to midtones

    nice paintings too

I'm going to necro my thread..! And update it properly this time.

I have been trying to do more painting practice on Corel Painter. I am pretty happy with the devil lady. I find I usually get really muddled using color and end up stuck in the same tones unless I use a lot of contrast.
