Envisor - I still use varying line thickness, it just depends on what kind of look I'm going for and what kind of medium I'm using. With technical pens I just go for a sort of contour outline and maybe some hatching, with pencil I use more line variation when I'm working from imagination than I do when working from life because I generally have more time to think about it... I've started getting into brush pens though because they allow for line variation from the beginning, even in gesture drawing. Conte crayon is good for that too, but I don't like getting dirty :/

Wasker - Thanks, I was pretty happy with that one too. It's white Prisma pencil (not chalk) and pencil.

    Kronos
    - I know I didn't finish the ear, it was a warm-up before work I'll make sure to get my ear next time though, a couple people have pointed that out. Monsters will be in here eventually, got some coming up for a freelance.

On to the new work. Here are a couple doodles - got a new sketchbook (Handbook - they look like Moleskine knockoffs but the paper's awesome, it's almost as thick as watercolor paper but there's still a good amount of sheets in a book) and new brush pens (Staedleters in black and 2 grays)...

Nice figures! I love the way they are very simple yet you can really feel the weight of the person. Some interesting characters too, though there is something creepy about those cyclops dudes (in a good way)

Where did you get your brown paper from btw, online or just at a general store? Been looking for that stuff for aaages.

I think I briefly met you at San Fran, did you have specs?

    Have Fun!

Mr Man: I got my brown paper at a specialty art supply store here called Flax. It's "Earthbound" and it seems like most art supply places have the spiral-bound version, I had to do a bit of hunting for a hardbound. You can probably get it online pretty easily though. And yeah, I do have specs, I remember ya

The figure drawings look awesome and so do the color studies. I like how confident the line strokes are. Stroke economy ftw! Keep at it

These were done for school but since we finally updated the atelier thread, I figured I'd go ahead and post some of the stuff I've done... Still gonna do some minor tweaks to the king and the kids. I'll try to get some of my traditional figure and cast and alla primas photographed soon.

Funny... I didn't realize until putting these together that our models keep choosing to face the wall for the longer poses (those are 20s and 40s) -_-

A couple WIPS for a secret project

Angel ortho (I haven't fixed the legs on the back view yet, I know they're supposed to be straight or neutral) and a sketch for another character, who will be getting different outfits on different layers til I choose one... They're without ref except for the wings.

OBX: Sorry... I don't have in-progress shots for the character portraits if that's what you're asking about. Those were so small I just did them all at once.
