    Oil Painting

    Hello,

This is my latest Oil Painting. I've been painting Bio-mechanical subjects on and off for over a year now and I feel like I'm repeating myself... I'm looking to improve my future work with your advice/impression etc.

I should also point out that this is heavily inspired by "Madonna Litta", c. 1490, by Leonardo da Vinci.

    Thanks!

I'd say the baby head is too small. Also, the metal has dark and light places, but no real highlights. Its a small picture, so I could be wrong, but I can't see if the fingers are up from, phalanges I think? Not sure about that name. Different parts of the finger. I'm not familiar with oil painting, so I can't comment on your technique ;/ Looks good though.

    Thanks guys!

I agree that the baby's head is too small... even the woman's head is a bit too large considering the size of her body...

The missing highlights are a very good point... I have a tendency to be afraid of highlights because it makes the shapes more bold.
The hands are another thing I'm afraid of.

I'll take a better picture of it and repost it... The background doesn't show up as much as I'd like it to, either, it has a bit more detail than on here.
Perhaps also add in a few changes via photoshop and eventually correct the painting if I'm satisfied with the results.

This is great! The things you pointed out, Anthis, are things I've been subconsciously avoiding!

    Again, thank you!
