    unsmooth lines in painter

    Hello,

    I made a sketch in pencil some time ago and I went to scan it because I wanted to see what it could become after some digital coloring. So I adjusted the contrast in photoshop to make the lines more visible.
    I decided that I wanted to paint it in painter but when I opened it, the lines didnt look smooth like in photoshop.
    I dont know this is happening and its a bit annoying because I'm not able to paint it accurately...
    I took 2 screenshots of my monitor, the first one is photoshop, the second is painter. They are both a 25% of their size
    Any help is appreciated, thank you.

    Painter has a tendency to pixelate thin lines if you're zoomed out too much. Try zooming in to full resolution, and it should smooth out

    For the look of a pencil drawing I use the 2B pencil with the color set at a gray as shown below. If you're using a tablet, the look is very realistic and "pencil-like" because of the pressure sensitivity. Hope this helps.

    in Painter:
    edit -> preferences -> general -> mark "draw zoomed-out views using area-averaging".

    Thank you very much for the response!

    -lordofthebling: thank you I realize that now but at a maximum zoom its impossible for me to paint properly because I dont really have a complete view of the drawing on my screen. I guess I should make it smaller

    -Fredbt: Wow that looks really great! I wondered how to get good pencil like lines... Maybe my sensitivity wasnt set properly. Anways, thanks again and great drawing!

    -teho: Thank you! That just solved my problem
