    Thumbs up Illustration Academy 2007!

Mark English, Sterling Hundley, George Pratt, John Foster( ), Gary Kelly...

Seven weeks of art boot camp, a place were art warriors are made. Enough said. Who's all going this year? (me ...)

The illustration academy was the most enlightening short-term experience of my education. Talk about a wake up call. I still use what I learned from Mark and John English and colleagues on a daily basis. My only regret was not being able to afford to go more than once. Jon is a great addition to the group. Y'all are going to get a healthy dose of reality, information and inspiration. It will change you for the better. Have fun!

I was looking through the site and thinking that this sounded really cool, but then I saw the price tag and my eyeballs exploded out of my head. Still, if you can afford it, it looks like an incredible learning experience. Have fun, Mr. Visions and whoever else might be going!

Spending 10 times as much on a crappy university is much more mad, if you ask me. 7 weeks in their program is worth more than years in most art schools.

That's what I've heard, and the friends I have that had gone came back the next semester to school and were way ahead of the game. Their development was overly noticeable. I'm ready for some hard hits to get me going. Four years of college, especially at VCU have been amazing, but I can only imagine that this summer will be the sum of a another 4+ quality years within 7 weeks. What else can I say -

I'm very excited. I know Cody got alot out of it, and it's cool to hear that Jason's experience was just as helpful and motivating.

Yeah, it was worth every damn penny, ten times over. For reals. Definitely some of the best times of my life, art-related or otherwise. Life changing in so many ways.

Can't recommend the Academy highly enough.
    I'm jealous, Visions! Good luck!

Yes, it sounds pretty kick ass... i guess it's easier for you guys living in the first world. Here that money amounts to about a year's worth of a mid level designer's salary, if not more... and for 7 weeks? not counting travel expenses & shit... talk about illustration for the rich & famous. And the university doesn't make the artist, i really think it's the other way around... yet it's better if you recieve good education.
