thats right! Push the weaknesses and do it a lot! Work on those values and most of all just do more and more and more and more and more and more.

I just wanted to say your comment "You got to build the car before you drive it" was like a smack of common sense to me. It's one of those thing's that seems so important, yet I was in a rush and over looked that one myself.

    That's great advice.

And wow, miles, great coming along compared to your first page.

Sorry, I'm not sure if this question has been asked...but how are you working from grayscale to colour? What settings are you putting on the layers overtop? I really would like to start colouring in this manner since focusing on tonal value is so important.
Great work! Keep it up! I'm excited to see more.

    replies from before

clanlord thank you my friend, the thing about the guys all lookin like me is somethin someone else said to me, completely un intentional haha, weird eh?

    Mr D yessir!

Corepoint thanks! twas good advice indeed

markey2D thank you, thats what i wanted to go for

mairuku if you are workin in PS, make a new layer then at the top of the little layer box there should be a dropdown menu that is by default set to normal, change it to overlay and just mess around with it, it will throw off your values slightly if you use it wrong, but its a good way to start a piece. Just rember once you have the overlays, keep painting in colour, otherwise it will look very fake.

    Ajene thanks

    DefiledVisions haha thanks man

    kidult thank you my friend

lilnebo thanks girl! Just remember to enjoy your art more than anything, and keep the mindset to improve, you don't have to think you suck, you just need to be aware of how much you have to learn. Just always tell yourself you suck, and you will start to beleive it, if you have confidence you can acheive so much more, as long as you bear in mind how much you have to learn, and keep on pushing!

    cory thank you

Okay, did a whole bunch of speedy value studies that dont look all that great, plus a fighter study thing. I'll just post that because it doesnt suck balls. lets call it a lighting study.

Hi, great study. What is it with everyone doing ufc studies? Must be really helpful then I guess. Btw, that super secret awesome project you and dile are working on seems pretty interesting. But maybe that's because you keep it secret?

    Looking forward to next update

Looks cool, something about his stance seems a little awkward.. and he looks short (Which is fine, I just love stating the obvious)

Gratz on the album cover too Sounds like an awesome job

Hey dude, nice stuff. But your warrior's(the guy holding the spear) arms are a little awkward. I'd like to see some more life studies and regular studies man!
Sorry for this shitty comment I'm giving you, just me two cents. Still like the way you handle lighting, though!
Btw, I've updated. Care to take a look at my shitty looking stuff?

    Shalite aww thanks

    DARAF thanks my friend

algenpfledger haha yeah, I'm not sure what the situation with their drummer is at the moment:/

    Ajene thanks bro

My57 hmm, I appreciate you are trying to be helpful, but you just come across as blunt. Its only really constructive if you are more specific about problems, anyway yeah you were right, his back foot wasnt grounded properly.

Snobby0o thanks man, I appreciate it

Well, its been a long weekend but I managed to get a final version done, which I'm pretty sure the band will be happy with. This was a real challenge, had tough lighting, multiple characters, who all had to be fairly well rendered, well-posed and in perspective. Plus I had to incorporate them into an environment. My solution, abuse the texture overlay and layers. This ended up with around 110 layers Oo, which can be a pain in the ass to work with haaha, Ps got real slow. Anyway hopefully I should get some more money for this and another portfolio piece I guess. But most importantly its been a real learning experience.

Its designed as a spread that reaches round to the back cover, and can be used on the site. So here it is without and template lines and a mockup of what the cover could look like.

    bands site www.kurodust.net

the actual file was absolutely massive, so these have been resized quite a bit.

I'm so stoked to hopefully see this printed in a month or so. But by then I'll probably hate it anyway haha
