I would, if I had any at the moment. Do you mean figure drawings from life or objects?

    Hey spazazo!
cool stuff, I like the Bruce Lee thing, there is a resemblance and the only thing that jumps out at me would be his left eye, and the perspective on his lips...
but ya there is very nice lighting on it and the rendering is all pretty smooth, although it does seem a tad rushed..
but keep it up, there is alot've really nice stuff in here, I am look ing forward to the next update!

ps I updated my SB and I would love to hear what you think!
Ill see you around!, and we should talk some time on msn again ; )

The guy in the gas mask looks better with more contrast! definitely an improvement! Also I like the pic of bruce lee but I would work on the face more. Especially the nose and moth region!

There's some nice stuff there. It's reassuring to see another teen from England on this site. I'd say you need to work on faces though, especially the lips. Keep practicing.

Yeah, I do need to work on my faces. So here are some new drawing with pretty good faces. In the first one the face is referenced and the body and gun are from my head. The second is a self portrait that turned out pretty good. It resembles me much better than my other self portraits.

Oh and also in the first drawing the non reffed face turned out painfully bad. Seriously just ignore it.

here is a quick speed painting of a cave. Insired by some other thread and decided to try digital painting again. The photo is the one its referenced from. I took the photo in some really cool war tunnels when I was on holiday in Jersey earlier this year.

Bout 45 mins work. Was fun. not too good tons of areas i could improve but meh. i cant really do digital at the mo.

Hey spazazo, thanks for stoppin by with the kind words

Anyways! I think for the digital paintings it would be a good idea to not go so opaque with the colors. I'd say go at the base sketch with a 70-80% opacity brush for all the base colors. Think of everything in shapes, don't think so much about blending everything right off. If you can map out all the basic shapes with a base flat color it will end up looking a lot more realistic.

    Good luck man!

Okay. I think I'll try to get good at colouring characters first then get into environments.

You're better than I was at 14, I think. I'm only 15 now, though, so we're not too far off!

I love seeing other young artists on CA, it gives me much needed inspiration and (albeit just in my head) competition.

    =P

I've long since learned, though, that age isn't really a factor, just your dedication to your craft, which you obviously have. You'll get great, quick.

Thanks Drd. Its great to get encouragement from other artists my age. I'll check out your skizzenbuch.

Here is something for now. Not too good and nottoo bad. The rendering was very rushed.

EDIT: Oh no small hips again.

    EDIT: removed dont like it.

Yeah just realised a lot of the anatomy on that last one is funked. Anyway. Heres another quick face practice with the reference. Loved the expression this guy has. Hes too cool not to draw. It turned out a bit stretched like most of my portraits but I'm fond of it.

Thats a nice drawing man. The only thing I'd say is work on the ears. Get some references to help. Keep up the good work.

Yeah I have quite a few problems with faces hence all the referenced drawings I've been doing this week. For now, here is a drawing from my head I am really pleased with. Took about 2 hours.

Dude that is great man, I really like the shading on his entire right leg, especially on the thigh guard, overall really nice textures, and tones My only crit would be to darken his left foot, (to separate it from the foreground) and to just add a little more contrast in general, but the anatomy looks good and you have some very nice detail, nice job and keep up the strong artwork!

    My only suggestion would be to try some more dynamic lighting situations, right now it looks really ambient. Try and get some really dark areas in there, and some really bright ones, and really try to pull out that metal gear look, since most of the stuff you have is wearing armour of some sort;

    Good going!

Okay I'll try to have more dramatic lighting in my future drawings. They always look cooler with more dramatic lighting.

Anyway here is the coloured version of that punk guy from earlier.

I really like the one of the punk guy but here is what I notice-

you started to really cramp his neck and make it too short when you added the hoodie... this looks kind of funny!

the part where the nose connects the skin above the lips looks odd. you need the nose to just out and curve around more.the mouth doesn't seem wide enough. It should come into the face more.
    Ok I hope that helps!

Hey. The one think I noticed in the referenced pictures is that your not exactly seeing what's there. The last one is quite obvious if you look at the earring. You have a fixed idea of what an earring looks like and how it fits on the ear. But if you look closely you'll note that the guy has a lob ring and not an earring. The band of metal is actually sitting in a huge hole in the lob of his ear.

Seeing everything clearly will help you become a better artist. Saying that, you're better than i was at your age.

    Good stuff, keep it up.

Thanks everyone for the crits. Its more helpful than just saying a piece is good so keep em coming. As for all the perfectly valid tips on how to work on the last piece, it was really meant to be a quick colouring experiment so I probably won't waste any more time working on it. I'm just so slow with digital. I'm trying to use mainly traditional pencil for now as I'm told once I've mastered that digital painting will come easier. As for updates I'm gonna be away on holiday for a week in Italy as of tommorow so I won't update my sketchbook for a while beyond today. Still, if I don't get lazy on holiday I should have plenty of time to draw the scenery and the villa we are staying in etc.

So probably one last update today then I'll be gone for a week. Cya..

I'm back from my holiday in italy but won't have access to a scanner till the end of the week where I will have quite a big update. Already i have some portraits and character designs and that kind of thing. There are 10 in total at the moment but should be more by the time I get a chance to update. So be prepared for a large update.

    Miles.
