lilnebo thanks girl! i wasn't too sure what I thought of that last one. thank you.

So, I realised I'm really fucking lazy hmm. So I guess I tried to actually study and learn some stuff today. Got a Bridgeman book and I'm in love with his style

So for tonight a reasonably long self portrait and a couple of anatomy scans plus some shit doodle.

    thanks all

You're 15?! That's kinda scary... You're in the right direction studying and stuff, but some more anatomy and more time put in observing things wouldn't hurt. Later on it will definitely come more easily. I think it would be advisable(at this stage) not to rush about with design and colors until you've got the proportions and perspective more accurate You tend to do things from your head and that's always good practice, but check real life as often as you get the chance to! Keep this going and you'll progress immensely

    Kudos to ya!

Nice one Miles - props for workin so hard on this commission and really pushing yourself - great practice! I'm lookin forward to the detail and finesse of your finished pieces with the energy and flare of your roughs - this will come naturally as you become more comfortable with anatomy (which your recent studies of are very nice i may add!)

Rock on and keep up that work ethic dude!

Hi Miles! Your style and ideas impressed me in a high level! You are talented my friend try to develop your skills as much as you can! Gather some ideas from the masters like M.Djurdjevic, J.Chan, J.Manley, NOXIZMAD, Puddnhead, A.Jones! Wish I had photoshop skills as yours... very good digital paintings! Man I vote excellent... you've showed so much imrovement since the first post here!
So here are the crits... Using costume designs is very good but it's reflected on your proportion ratios... first draw the basic lines (simple stripes) then try to imagine the armor and other designs and knick-knacks...The young man face is well studied... you should try to draw some mature faces also! Good sense of the shadows! The other thing I've noticed is the arm studies... try to obverse the finger positions and other forms of the arm! On the other hand your digital works are very cool, but don't depend only on attractive designs!
Last thing my friend, your skills had jumped enormously! Keep up and don't give up! Masters will always inspire you, but one day you will inspire the young artists ! I'm also 15 and I want to say that you're very very very talented!

lilnebohaha thanks girl, but look at someone like algenpfledger and i look damn lazy:p good talkin

algenpfledger thanks man, it means a lot coming from you. Yeah I guess I dunno about the age thing, i try not to think about it or allow myself any special standards. I don't allow myself to produce something crap and go, meh im 15 ill improve, i can be really harsh on myself and i think it does help at times. thanks

clanlord thanks for the long reply dude! its always nice to hear what people think. Yeah you basically named some of my biggest influences. This site is brilliant for seeing tons of great art. I totally get what you mean with the proportions things, I still get em wrong all the time. The only thing bothering me now with digital work is I have become so dependant on being able to move things around and resizing different serctions that I'm much worse with a pencil now. I'm tryin to fix it as much as possible and I do see improvement, I just think I need to do more traditional work, cheers for the reply dude

so, did some bridgeman arm studies today but I can't be bothered to swithc computers and scan them...

so instead you get a crappy one hour self portrait! Really didn't turn out to good but I thought I should post something. Cheers all for the replies!

EDIT: sorry took it down, it was horrible:/

Some real nice stuff here man! You have good pencil control, but you should work on your depth perception. Your self portraits are quite nice but you should look into doing some colors on them, for instance look at the face studies the Hurricane did, and also look at some of rembrandt's works, exciting colours there. Anyhoot you have a nice workload and you have developed quite nicely.

good stuff miles, and try and go back to the very basics, you know like observational drawing and stuff, those kind of studies you can never do too much of.

Ah if only I started seriously like yourself back when I was 15.

But dude, look at your progress in only 1 year or so - it's incredible...you're going all the way I can tell

Dang, man...I'm really impressed with your work, even leaving age out of the equation, you've got a great work ethic. I'm going to keep watching this sketchbook. On those figures, like on this most recent page, watch the perspective and keep those feet on the same plane...that hairstyle study is fantastic!

Wow. You are really good for being so young :3

A few suggestions though. Try when you are coloring/shading things to draw from a light source and make things look more rounded. I could never draw the kind of stuff thats on here so i wont pick too much XD Awesome work!
