    Miles.. you're my hero.

Witness the contents of mind, the visions and sounds, the thoughts, as clouds passing through the vast expanse - the sky-like nature of mind. The rootedness of Being is in emptiness, clarity and awareness: unborn, unspoilt, stainlessly pure. ~Alex Grey

    Some Critiques:
You have a lot of sketchy lines in your paintings that aren't lines... what I mean is that they should be blocked in tone but instead you scribbled them in. Try to avoid that as it looks fake... I don't know if thats the right word but you know what I mean. It looses it's illusion of realism.
Edge control has been discussed many times in this book but I'll emphasize it once again. On those two new environs, all of the edges are the same: they're very sharp/hard. Try to mix it up with some soft edges.
Use soft brushes as well as hard brushes for variation and edge control.
Use a lighter touch (or a reduced opacity) when painting for better gradation between colors. I was taught to paint acrylics by REDUCING REDUCING REDUCING. What that means is that you build up with thin layers of transparent paint. You can do that just as easily on the computer by setting the settings to opacity - pen pressure or by lowering the opacity.

Any way... yeah. Keep it up. And stay humble!

Hey.You've got really big sketchbook right now and I didn't manage to go through it all.
Your characters look really good. I think you could play a bit more with silhouettes and go wild a bit with those designs. Sometimes fear of doing some anatomical mistake might hinder your creative freedom.

    Keep posting.

Jake Kobrin yeah, those were meant to sort of, define form or something cos I used the texture badly and kinda killed it Thanks man, next paint im really gonna focus on edges, thanks for the kick in the ass, I know I can be arrogant sometimes

Farvus Haha I dare not go back more than a few pages Thanks for taking the time man, it means a lot. yeah I will, I've recently been trying to tackle anatomic fears and I really wanna start to experiment with figures in space and stuff. Thanks

Meh, bit rubbish, the other arm is stupidly placed so it looks like he's dancing, I know exactly where I'd move it and everything. I'm gonna do a whole lot more quick figures and stuff. Thanks all.

    Btw what happened to studies?!
Keep it up man your getting closer to you goal with every day of drawing, you really have passion for this it's great (wish i had as much ideas that i could just get lost in and spend hours on)
    Keep posting more and peace
    edit:

Hey miles, great studies man. Your work keeps getting better and better. If i may make a suggestion.

These look like you're studying hogarth i believe, which is great. If i may reccomend some books that are just amazing and have helped me out quite a bit. Bridgemen Bridgemen, and more Bridgemen. I ordered a couple of his books a couple months ago and they have been a great help, and i have come to find out they are required reading for the ateliers anatomy and life drawing classes, also, another great one is atlas of human anaotmy for the artist by Peck. It has some great size ratio's and notes on ways to simply the forms in your mind. Anyhoot, just a suggestion, but keep up the awesome work, looking forward to more.

    Beastathon cheers dude

Cole Thanks man, Other people have recommended bridgeman to me, I guess I went with Hogarth because his book on 'dynamic anatomy' is great for reference when you need someone in an unusual position. I'll look into getting some Bridgeman, thanks for the visit man.

lilnebo Haha, people don't need to see every shitty study I do:p Nah, didn't use reference on that one, which is why the arm is so fucked :p thanks.

Fun portrait studies. This is of some tribal guy, in the pictures he had tons of tatoos all up his arms and chest, so I might go back and draw them in as well. Thanks guys for all the support

    Nice SB

With the last piece, I feel that the torso is much too short and the thighs are too long. I'd also work on the angle of the exposed knee and try to keep in mind the underlying muscles that support it - currently it feels a little flimsy.

Hope that helps and keep up the good work

Enjoying the portrait, although the features seem a little odd...I assume that is because of the nationality of the "tribal" guy.

Last painting has some good detail, although I think the pose is off balance or something along those lines...it just doesn't look right.

Keep posting, will DEFIANTLY be watching!
