this looks pretty solid man keep on pushing those skin tones. the reflection from the nose is kinda wonky it makes it appear as a nose on the bottom of her nose, and gives a semi pryamid feeling. (hope that makes sense) well keep at it man.

To live is to create, to create is to live. Without art and music, I do not know how I would get by in my day to day life.

Woah that last one is pretty creepy. I don't know if you intended it that way but the pale skin and dark eyes.... it's creepy.
Mista Delish is right. You should only use white for like a REALLY strong secondary light source. Take a look a look at Cole Eastburns work, he uses white but very sparingly.
I'd like to see you attempt some creatures. Try to keep things well rounded, you know? At least give one of your girls a pet.
    Talk to you later!

Very cool! He reminds of the combine from HL2!
Some how the gun looks flatter than the rest of the image though.

Real cool stuff man, it'll be nice to see your stuff in the future. Agreed with Mr. Delicious, try not to use white. Everything has color in it. If you make your shadows darker, you won't have to go so light on the light side of the face. Think of dark blues, purples, reds for shadows.. and think of light yellows, blues, greens for light..depending on the temperature of your light. Cool light=warm shadows, warm light=cool shadows.

That was a little harsh, I do draw alot compared to most people my age. And although im serious about this your advice is shit. cutting out distractions listed above would be throwing away what i have left of my childhood. I dont want to grow up just yet.

    Thanks

Miles: Keep those studies up buddy, digging them lots. Agree with D up there, stay the phuck away from white unless you know you need it. Unless its a grayscale, do not use white or black (there are exceptions, just very minimal)

Mate, I wish I had your dedication at your age - you seem to really want to improve and you're going for it, good on ya!
Your colour work is coming along nicely, though it does look like a greyscale value painting with an overlay layer on top. Try to mix it up a little, think of real paint and how it is applied and try to emulate that. An overlay or multiply layer serves well as a glaze, but doesn't work so well for other effects - try mixing it up a little
Also don't worry about putting people off with some stuff you think is substandard, this is only a sketchbook and as long as you learned something from a piece (no matter how shitty it came out) then it's all well worth the time.
Great improvements overall, you've set a great pace for yourself!

Jake Kobrin Thanks man, sure does haha

cory haha its meant to be behing the gun, but the gun is flat:/

Mitchell Wow man, your stuff is fucking inspiring, thanks for the post man, I really need to work at colour theory.

Muzz mmm hmmm, right? so cutting out tv and video games to draw more wont help you improve. riiight man, just trying to help.

    Coinpurse Sure thing! thanks

    lilnebo awesome! thanks

jordy cheers man, rendering with pencils is fun

monstertree hell yeah i hate relying on overlays, hence todays update. Thanks for the inspiration and motivation! Cheers!

StolenSky inspiration? wow thank you!, cya around

Okay struggles with this but had a lot of fun. This is a self portrait, from life in a mirror, usins photshop. Really tough:/

You. You're good you. I really like your work, although sometimes your faces are a little flat. Whereas I have to improve on anatomy. But okay, my goal isn't the perfect anatomy. I've taken it (too) easy the past year, but Ill work hard. You are an example to me and others. Ganbatte!

Bah! Sorry about that lol, I should have looked a little closer, i see the tank now behind the gun.
anyway, Nice SP! would have been difficult because you were either standing still and that would hurt after a while, or moving and having to learn what you look like on the fly Though your previous SP's would have helped with the form im sure

ChaunMing thanks man, example, meh, not so much, I get lazy.

cory Hurt my shoulder actually, was lying down on the floor holding myself up, hence the squint shoulder, by the end of the hour I was in so much pain. I really don't like it anymore, the skin tones make me look diseased

Well all I had time for today, some quick costume designs. Followed Mr D's advice and bought hundreds of books with different cultures costumes, Armour, whatever. Got tons of shit to study now!

Hey Miles! Nice samurai you got there! But the blade of the sword needs to be a perfect slightly curving line. Same for the scabbard. O, there seems to be something wrong with his right arm, or is it me? Anyway, nice job!
