Further work on the same commision, the guy had some things he wanted changed. Eventually I'll develop the character to full colour.

sweetness man. really kicking it good now. those latest characters are nicely done. i also like seeing more colored stuff from you. i'd suggest pushing your values a bit more and maybe doing some experimentation w/ color theory. keep it up man.

Congrats on the commissions. You know you're on the right track if people are paying you at such a young age.
The Latest is looking good. Great colours, though the abs look painted on to me. Or just unnaturally defined.

    Reject-D thanks man I did.

    May need sidescrolling

Jakehaha cheers man, I'm not that keen on the recent pencil though everyone else seems to think its okay.

Well, just more black ans white orthographics for the same commision, as soon as the design gets approved I get to do another fun full colour one

    Needs sidescrolling

As everyones said a million times, awesome improvement man, you've definitely got your shit figured out on the right track. It'll be fun to see where you go from here on out

Commission stuff is looking good, glad youre posting the developments as they go so we can see the thought process. The black and white technique is bold, looks good. Unless you plan on developing the details on the orthos more though i think maybe theyre a bit too vague, details are getting lost in all the black which would be a pain to model. This of course is assuming youre leaving them as-is. Same thing goes for the colouring, because you used such strong contrasting lighting lots of detail gets lost, especially in the legs, where you cant even tell the silhouette that well any more. As a mood painting its excellent, it has a lot of characterization, but again, same as the orthos, lacks vital details for the modeller.
Design wise its all pretty well thought out, has lots of character and attitude. The designs include details of the axe, but not the swords on his back, any real reason for that? Id like to see their designs fleshed out, too.
I think the same point about clarity applies to the girl character. I like her, she has good attitude to her, but i cant tell much of anything about her design aside from the more basic shapes, i cant tell what all the little white lines and details on her armor are, or even what material its made of.

Yeah, so those are all the tiniest nitpicks i could fathom at this stage, theres not much i could say is wrong with them, just nitpicking them as production pieces.
Cant wait for the girl's colours!

ok, i haven't looked at your entire sketchbook, only the last 5 pages or so, but im noticing a theme here: your anatomy studies are good. but when you apply that knowledge to something else, you loose it when you start adding things, clothes, armor, etc.
i think, i may be guessing here, but i think what you're doing is drawing the character with these items on it. what you should be doing is a very light sketch of the body first with nothing on it at all, THEN go back and add clothing, armor, etc.
i say this because you DO have a good sense of anatomy and proportions, but you seem to forget it all when you go beyond a nude form.
    thats my only crit.
    keep drawing and posting.

[edit], i also meant to say that the latest ones, the digital pieces are looking great. sweet designs. love the black/white stuff.

hehe, of course i have time to check your sb. I have to say its not bad at all. Maybe something that could help you is to draw from life, like when you are on a bus or something and draw the people there. Its hard but it helps

complete2 hey thanks for checking out my book. I think I'm basically gonna have to stop making excuses and just do tons of nude figure studies, I can try and tackle other weaknesses like colour theory and whatnot as well. You got a point about my proportions going funny, I basically never check and just trust myself to get them semi right. Oh and thanks about the black and white stuff

Hive_minD Haha thanks man, I will

StolenSkythanks man, here it comes haha

lacadam Too true I really should do more life drawing, I'll try to make more time for it

Okay well this is a W.I.P of my next commision for www.newboldworld.com and its still obviously a W.I.P but they're fine with me posting stuff if I credit them as the source.

It's looking good Miles. I'm doing a commission for Newbold too! ...but you already knew that...

Something looks really off with HIS right forearm... part of it could be that is left arm is way bigger , but that's not it. Also put a bit more time into the eyes. They're the most important part! Don't neglect them!

Talk to you later... I hope.
