good stuff man! The mouth on that last portrait looks to be a bit out of line with the perspective of the eyes and nose but thats getting nit picky. Love the start of the digital piece, she's got a nice expression.

Thank you all so much, I do read everything and its really motivating to see such a positive response, just a little tight for time at the moment hence the lack of replies

This is actually the second bargue drawing I've completed, don't have a good photo unfortunately, took approximately 30 hours to get it accurate enough to be signed off.

Love the values in your sculpture and life drawing. They're spot on. And I love the colors in your digital piece

i dont comment on here much but i check your sketchbook daily, i have to say you draw portraits fast coz in 1hr i would still be measuring lol im terrible,. the Barque study is looking awesome and the depth in the new portrait is nice, great value range

Well, coming up to a month and a half out here in Sweden. Its been a strange learning experience moving to such a different environment, had its ups and downs on a personal level, but it will definitely be a positive experience for my artwork and hopefully for me to get some real world experience.

Ville got a new scanner so I went back and scanned everything from the month. It doesn't look like much for the time, but believe me I've been busy. It's kind of hard to explain exactly how much time goes into the Bargues. They are not signed off until you are as close to a perfect copy as possible. The exercise is designed to train your brain to be a human scanner, breaking down complex images into simpler abstract shapes and to train subtle handling of pencil. We have been working on these 7 hours a day for a month now and I have to say by the time I get back from the atelier my brain is almost too fried to keep working, hence the small amount of other stuff. However, they were a challenge and just the introduction to our studies here, which should be moving on to include figure drawing from life for 3 hours everyday. When that starts in a few weeks I will be back to daily updates.

Enough rambling, Bargues number 1,2 and 3

I wish I was joking, but based on the number of days I worked on this, I figure this to be approximately 78 hours work

Re-scans of the life drawings, some have been smudged pretty badly haha, oh well

aand finally this, nearly done haha, I just kind of mess around with in in free evenings so its not particularly focused or anything. I move into a new place tomorrow which will be my location for the remainder of the school year. Big thanks to Ville Ericsson and his family for letting me stay free of charge, been a scary and strange time for me moving out and away from those I love so I really appreciate the support and welcome to the country.

hey miles, those drawings show you are going strong!

Also i feel the latest digital is going to be really delicious. You are going to add more shape/patterns to her dress? right now the pattern in the stocking are distracting the detail composition if you don't add some interest into the character upper areas

anyway keep this up, making yourself monster
