some more recent sketches from school, just doodles from lectures ect.
the naked chick is a version of the mythological lillith..who i find is a really facinating character..the version im representing is the arabic/jewish one where she is the evil demon mother of all succubi..Lillith or lilitu seems to have been adopted into these myths from anb earlier time, appearing all across the map in ancent religions..thus the negative spin i guess....this incarnation is pretty fun to represent though..
    cheers

    back from the dead

alright, so its been almost four years since I've last posted?!
I should probably start a new thread,
but the common theme in my favorite sketchbooks is progress,
so here's hoping you see some in what I'm posting now!

thanks for checking it out! any feedback/comments are hugely appreciated!
    cheers,
    t

Thanks for stopping by my SB! Your work is gorgeous - I love the energetic strokes and the vibrant colours that you use. I especially like the girl with the tambourine - love the fabric pattern and colours on her.

Your work is so much fun! I love the green lady with the big hair in post 38!
the amount of time you put into your pattern-work makes my hand cramp up lol - but it totally pays off. The dancer in 38 is beautiful.
I don't really have anything constructive to offer- your style suits itself so well.
you better not disappear for 4 more years - this SB is going to be great.

    lifedrawing

@monstertree Thanks! Haha yeah, i'm glad you're seeing improvement, its hard to tell sometimes in ones own work, i cant believe i've been away so long!
@D_art- Thank you!, I've been really into patterns and geometric lately so its showing up in pretty much everything
@Rhubix Thank you! Not going anywhere, promise! and i'm trying to update at least twice a week

A couple lifedrawings from last week aaand a little gouache doodle, the far arm is all messed up i know but by the time i noticed i'd already painted the most of it, and i like the hair part so..

Wow! I love the energy of your paintings, the way you use gouache is amazing! The sophistication of your stylized stuff is also incredible, it's the sort of thing I aspire to.

I wish I could give you some useful crit but all I can do is burble with glee, so.

    Keep it up!

    concept arts

Heres a couple more sketches! some gouache and a couple environment studies/thumbnails
I've started legitimately working on my concept art portfolio so look forward to more of that
and less illustrative work in the near future (even though illustration is kinda my strength, they're hiring a whole ton of artists at the new game studio that opened up in my town so I'm gonna take my shot)
ANY and all feedback once i get my portfolio up will be beyond helpful
    just sayin

@Clur Thanks! I used to be afraid of color way back but now I love it!
@Noora Thanks! glad the improvement actually shows!

Back from the dead...indeed! But it's cool you didn't start a new sb...so that we can see more of your journey.

Looks like your still working in traditional mediums...which is very cool...and will help you stand out a bit.

    I'm liking what I see...you have a very strong style/sense!

    Keep up the great work!

Wow - totally love those surf board designs, you clean lines and amazing colours remind me of jeremyville - do you know his work? Anyways I love all of your illustrations and your life drawing studies.

Do you sell prints of your illustrations? They would look fantastic framed

    concept pages & lifedrawing

    hey back again!
had an amazing life drawing session last week with a pregnant woman learned so much!
also, some practice concept art pages from drink and draw
@Imaginaryfriend thanks, it is gouache actually, i've been loving it as a medium lately!
@jephyrx Thanks, I thought so, I love seeing progess in others sketchbooks, so i thought it might be neat to keep my old work up for contrast.
@alizak Thanks! I totally know jeremyvilles work, its fantastic, he has a lot of the same influences i do (old 1920's & 30's Max Fleischer cartoons for example)
@markey2011 Thanks, I love alan lee's work too. too bad about the tablet, maybe you can find one second hand!

Shit, this is awesome stuff! The designs, patterns, not to mention the colours... I am a lot more inspired now than I was when I logged on today! Please keep this coming!
EDIT: And I forgot to say, your grasp of shapes is strong. Combine that with solid linework... Yeah.
