I see the progress, it's really consistent and quick. Good job! The hands are the most impressive to me, especially the Hogarth studies, even if they are just copies. You construct with basic shapes, and that's something I don't see often enough. I've been told it's cartoony, and maybe we both need to break away from it and move into confident lines instead (contour drawings help that). One thing: red will burn your eyes and ours. Stick with the blue or the gray for sketching, nice and cool and easy on your eyes.

Scans and on to my 2nd page woohoo!!!

Puck: Thanks for the comments, I appreciate it. I've learned so much from studying Bridgeman and Hogarth, but as always there is much more to learn. I'm trying to bring some of the structure into my doodles, but I there is a noticeable gap between my studies and attempts at more imaginative works. Hence I continue to do a lot of studies and photo ref. Posemainacs is awesome... closest thing I have to a life drawing class right now.

eminkey2003: Thanks man. Funny that you mention constructing my drawings with basic shapes and how thats "cartoony". I have my B.A. in animation, so when I was in school, we were taught to break things down into basic shapes. I hear what you're saying about the contour lines and trying to have a more confident stroke. I feel that my strokes are becoming more confident as I continue to do these studies, but they could still use a lot of work... I'll try to remember and do some contour line drawings and add them here. Oh an sorry about the red... it was the only thing around at the time...

Had some time so scan some stuff that I did recently. Some plant studies and an outdoor scene from this past Sunday and another quick Hogarth study.

its a Pdf of a great figure drawing book that Im working out of right now. Check it out, I promis its not any thing bad.

Its really helpful with proportions, wich is somthing I noticed was kind of off about the leg bone study.

Hey AphexTweak. Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. It's good to see you're keeping up with yours. I'm also trying to get used to the feeling of drawing with the tablet. It sure isn't as natural as drawing on real paper. You seem to be doing pretty well with it though. Keep it up!

    Updating time

Once again I've taken way too much time to update this thing... I have a bunch of drawings that I need to scan from my sketchbook, just haven't found the time. Pretty proud of myself though, I've been drawing a lot more in my sketchbook lately than I have in the past. I just need to keep it up.

Anyway, on to the posting. I've seen a few people doing some quick color studies off of landscapes recently. I looked like it would be fun as well as just get used to and try and become more confident with laying down some color. So I did these color studies using some photo ref. Each one took around 30 min. I think they turned out pretty well... always room for improvement, but I'm happy with the result at this stage of the game. Hope you enjoy them, crit and comment away.

Hey Aphex Those look really nice, especially the colors of that last one are great. Keep going with it
In my animation class they also said breaking up things into quaders if you want to know how it's build I think that's exactly the way how to understand the human body. - I also hate feet, they're somehow harder for me to draw than hands are!
Anyway your anatomy studies are pretty well, keep going with that too

    More color fun

Megamax: Thanks for stopping by. The tablet is getting easier. I'm learning that I just have to go for it when drawing. My hands will draw, its my eyes that need to be retrained to look at the screen and not down at my hand.

AMess: Thanks, glad you liked the color studies. I had fun working on them. I don't think I understand your term "quaders"... could you elaborate further? Are you studying animation in school or just taking a single class?

Was just messing around with some custom brushes of foliage that I found a while ago and. Having some fun with them and mixing some color in here and there. Hope you like.

    Figure Work

Doing some drawing from pose maniacs again. Its been a little while since I concentrated on figure stuff... and man it shows. I drew the same pose twice. The 2nd one turned out better on each one I think... They still need a lot of work though... Need to be drawing more... Still have drawings that need to be scanned in too...

    More Pose Maniac

Well since I haven't done a lot of figure stuff in a while I decided that I should just spend a decent amount of time doing a bunch of gesture stuff. Here are some 60 second and 90 second gestures. Some of them turned out pretty well and others are just total crap... but I did start to feel a bit of a rhythm come back to my hand while doing these. Anyway, enjoy...

    More Scans

dadushin:Thanks. The more studies I do the more I learn. Building up that visual library in my head too.
BRINKMAN!:Thanks, hope to see you back here too. Hopefully I'll have some stuff to keep your interest.

On to the scans... Still have a lot to scan from my sketch book, these are only from Jan. 10 & 12. Need to keep working on drawing everyday. Getting more dedicated about it, but not there yet. Enjoy...

    Been way to long...

themissinglink, Warground Zer0, BRINKMAN!, Lyno: Thanks. Nice to have some return visitors.

Well, work has kept me very busy over the past month or so... not much time for anything else... not even drawing... but thats what happens when you are working between 10 and 14 hour days.

Anyway, took some time out to draw tonight... don't know how many poses I went through on posemaniacs, but I came up with a few good ones and put them together. So here they are enjoy.
