Hi all... Thanks to some of the fellas over at Sijun, there are now FIVE Andrew Loomis books available in PDF format. They're currently being hosted over at Badass in the Downloads section, but I think you need to be registered to get in.
If someone wants to mirror these files, I've already put together a page for them (in PHP) that I think turned out rather nice. Just say the word and I'll send the files over.
Mod: Sorry if this is off-topic, I wasn't sure where to put a thread like this!
DEAR GOD THANK YOU!!!!!
Moved it to Lounge forum instead
Blind, you are a saint. May your life be filled with happiness!!!!
Thank you :chug:
"...to a world of Gods and Monsters..."
I tried downloading these books, but my PDF reader keeps saying cannot download...wrong file format cause the PDF file reads the file as an .r00 file. Any help in this would be great. Thanks.
well it seems to be zipped since it says r00 and that is .rar format.
try to save the file, and the following files to your harddrive, and unrar them with a program like winrar or winzip.
hope it helped
:chug:
Cynical smarty pants.
oh my gosh, i asked a whle back if anyone had these in pdf. thankyou thankyou thankyou!!!
Right on! Thanks for the heads up on this Blind!
If you havent figured it out yet you need all the files before you can extract with winrar. The creative illustration book is i think the first 5 files. You just open the lowest number file or the rar file adn extract.
These are awesome!! I printed them all out at work...
Pontemonti: Thanks for moving this thread. I wasn't sure where to put it!
Yes, for those of you who had trouble getting them, you need WinRAR or something comparable to unzip these. The largest file (Creative Illustration) is broken up into several pieces, as it would otherwise be a 85mb download. So you'll need all of them before you can stitch them back together. I may actually shrink that file a tad, as the scans are absolutely huge.
Myself and a fellow named IO_Error from Sijun were trying to get these up on my site for a while, but had no luck with getting the files put up on his FTP so I could get at them. Then Buzzsaw stepped in and offered to host over at his site. I believe IO_Error was the one who actually compiled all the images from fineart.sk into PDF's though. I'm just the messenger

Blind you must be god or some kind of angel or something...
lalala... :sing: the figure drawing book is still available in german, and guess who just ordered it...,
Dan: You may want to make sure that the book you're getting is complete. I've heard there are versions of these books available with pages missing. Some publisher somewhere along the line saw fit to reprint them and exclude pages in order to get the books under a certain page count. These PDF's are the complete originals.
Hep, thanks a bunch to everybody who participated on the project! For those peps who don't dare venture into that RAR-business, here's a link to WINRAR's Homepage . If you've ever opened a ZIP-file before, it's just the same thing.
Crap... I bumped this thread and then found out that Buzzsaw got capped on his bandwidth. So the Loomis books are temporarily offline >8(
If someone needs them, just private message me and we'll work something out.

Aren these books in pdf still available?
WHERE ARE THEY????
The only thing I found a was a scary pink site
Since these are such incredible books, would CA be willing to host them for download if someone who downloaded them would be kind enough to donate them to the greater good?
Just an idea...

cool beans to you...my friend.
sKeTcHbOoK update page3 (scroll to the bottom of page)
I think it should be mentioned that the original source of the .pdf files are from pinwire.com under the 'books' section. You'll need to register (free) to access them. Pinwire also has the 'Eye of the Painter' in pdf form as well.
Awesome...i'm gonna take them all to Kinkos and get them printed in manual form...
The figure Drawing for all it's worth pdf file isn't working properly....
i have all the other books good to go now.....
I had the same problem ... said the file was corrupted..
Which is a damn shame, cause I wanted that one specifically...
I have six Loomis books in PDF.
What I don't have is bnadwidth to host them. If someone can provide the host (210mb), I'll provide the files.
SOmeone give this man bandwidth..heh....
I agree with those who said conceptart.org should host these. They are a prime resource for those like me, the aspiring artist who can't afford real supplies, as they are still in high school and don't yet have a job.
(that's awfully specific tho)
Also, for anyone who wants a darn good set of books.
Host, them, and I will devote myself to defeating the enemies of creativity:
bad sitcoms(not like seinfeld, which was ahead of it's time)
Those guys who ostracize people for not being a slave to....whatever's in.
and anyone else who dares call art an invalid profession(I hate those guys)
and the the possibility that there will EVER be a scanner shortage...
oh, and if you can't get that site to work, try saveloomis.com(or org, or something...)
Tell me, do you think I exist, or am I a figment of my own imagination?
