dits and dats
Hi. I'm female, 22, Sweden. Been painting and drawing for a couple years. Completely self taught. Trying to go back to the basics and get a more solid foundation to keep building on. I like colour a lot, and oils better than acrylics. I dabble in Photoshop and haven't properly learned how to use Painter yet. I like Stargate, books and World of Warcraft.
Here are some examples of stuff I've made the past couple years, oldest first:

hey, popping your sketchbook cherry!
I see a lot of promise here. My biggest advice is to do a lot of anatomy studies. Practice, practice, practice. And of course, show us more work, as much as you can.

Good so far! Now just keep going! Don't worry about "not having a style". Style, when imposed, inhibits artistic growth. Just let your style grow as you do.
I think you are awesome, and I wish you the best in your endeavors, but I am tired of repeating myself, I am very busy with my new baby, and I am no longer a regular participant here, so please do not contact me to ask for advice on your career or education. All of the advice that I have to offer can already be found in the following links. Thank you.
Perspective 101, Concept Art 101, Games Industry info,Oil Paint info, Acrylic Paint info, my sketchbook.

@ Dose206: That's great advice. I'm trying to do just that, but I've no literature at my disposal and have to make do with what I find online.. I think at least some live art classes would help, but oh well!
@ skunk257: Thanks!
@ Seedling: I'll try to remember that.
On to some sketches.. Lots of crap but here we go:
And a self portrait.. The likeness is ok, but I screwed up the eyes/nose and I made myself look 10 years older.. Great going there.

.. is that a baby arm grabbing an apple in your first post? nice studies! keep it up.
May 3rd, 2007 #7
@ AdamDillabo: Indeed it is. Having no babies in the near to look at for reference, I pretty much guessed how it would look.. Maybe it should be chubbier?

Like the portraits, keep at it.
Transition from Art Critic to Artiste - Diligence, that's all I need.

Some more old portraits of friends.
Pencils, oils but mostly watercolors.

A couple sketches from Sketcher.
I just installed Painter IX and am experimenting happily with it. More colourful crap to come soon.

More Sketcher fun!

Yeah - I do that too much, I know.. Pretty good at not doing it with a pencil, but I gotta grab my tablet pen too hard.. No excuses! I'll do better.
Thanks for stopping by!

OO, nice. I like all the faces. Alot. I would like to see some full body action poses and other things described with big words.

Thanks Max! I've actually been working on some of that, but my scanner isnt cooperating so for the moment I'm restricted to posting what I do on my computer.
Here we go, random colouring doodle. Not very happy with the top one, its too flat compared to the other two. Might do something fun with these colour schemes.
Er - why are they showing up in my posts and as attachments all of a sudden? This isnt good.

Legs look weird.. Feet arent great. I need to practise feet. Anyway, its me! Drawing myself in front of the mirror. I need a camera instead. -.-

Some random nonsense I doodled while watching TV earlier.
My scanner is being evil.. as usual.

Alesoun: Not really.. Problem was the size I posted it in, is the size I originally drew in.. and I tried simply implying some shapes but I got it wrong with the tiny size so I didnt bother.

I have these little notes in the kitchen, meant for grocery lists.. Sometimes I steal a bunch and doodle in front of the TV.. mostly when I'm too lazy to go get my sketchpad from upstairs. Thought I'd scan a few from the past few days.. Damn, I do a lot of these. Pencils and pens, freehand and sometimes inspired by the TV on little 3 by 3 inch papers.
Oh and another selfportrait from in front of the mirror.
I'll start scanning my proper sketchbook sometime soon.. Right now it looks like too much work. o_O

OK I know you posted it a while back now but there is a quality about the first image you posted (trees, moon) which I really enjoy. Something about it being not overly detailed or highly realistic along with the choice of colors evokes an emotion in me from a dreamscape in my mind one night.... Its as if I can see the world in fornt of me with some clarity but there is a haze and a mystery that makes you want to explore...

TacticallyWacked: Thanks! I did a whole bunch of those, tiny format surreal-ish landscapes a good while back. They're so much fun because you don't have to focus on getting it 'just right', rather go with what feels good. The one I posted there I gave to my mother for Christmas and she loves it.
My computer crashed.. I'm using dad's scanner now and as soon as I figure out how to resize stuff properly without having Photoshop/Painter I'll submit some more.
May 19th, 2007 #23
A load of junk I did recently.. Sorry about the poor quality, I had to resize them in MS Paint..

Great eye! The corner of the eye always gives me problems ...yours looks nice.

A couple real still life sketches from today.. 3B and H pencil.. need something softer to get closer to a true value range; which is why they're not finished.. Might work on them some more. From stuff found in my living room.

Sorry about the poor quality.. I need to learn how to scan pencil drawings properly..
May 26th, 2007 #27
Too lazy to scan anything.. So - here, have a banana.

Downloaded Loomis's books a few days ago since they seem so recommended.. Started with Fun with a pencil.
Then, when my back started hurting, I took a break and watched some Smallville.
