ImagineFX issue 18 - Android cover

Issue 18 of ImagineFX should be hitting subscribers' doormats around about now...

This month we have four Limited Editon covers – by leading artists Andrew Jones, Loïc Zimmermann, Melanie Delon and Jason Chan. We set them the challenge to re-imagine four classic paintings: The Scream by Munch, The Kiss by Klimt, The Rapture of the Psyche by Bouguereau and The Birth of Venus by Botticelli. Here's a taster...

ImagineFX issue 18 - Android cover

Inside the magazine we have a fantastic guide to becoming a better artist - with the fundamentals of lighting, colour, tone and anatomy explained. We also have an extra special Legends Q&A with Rodney Matthews, Chris Foss, Brom, Fred Gambino and Bob Eggleton sharing their wealth of experience and techniques.

Daniel Dociu is our Master of Art, showcasing some truly stunning environmental concept art - and an exclusive workshop from the artist will teach you his methods and ways of thinking. It's unmissable.

Other workshops include a brilliant guide to creating retro film poster art by Jonny Duddle, the techniques of up-and-coming artist Jehan Choo, a cool illustration workshop from Ravensoft's Mike Mitchell and more.

Our new Portrait of an Artist interview series kicks off with Shelly Wan, and there's the usual masses of galleries and artist news.

Issue 18 is on sale 8th May in the UK.

Cheers! Let me know what you think

Nice! Glad to see something besides "just a sexy girl" on the cover.

Hm, the one thing that's bothering me with the scream one is that in the scream you can easily see that it's on a ship. It's about something wrong on a ship (and I think the contextual knowledge it's about a dream Munch had about being on a sinking ship).

Though I'm not complaining, before anybody starts. Hmm, I may buy the magazine, just give it a go, see how I like it.

I always assumed that the setting for The Scream was a bridge.

Whatever the case, neat idea for the covers. The Scream homage is excellent

It's a nice idea, but personally I just think it's milking the collectors to buy all four versions.

I really like Jason Chans version of The Birth of Venus.
