    Weeping Yeshua HaMashiac Adonai...

Jesus wept. Here is the pencil drawing of the piece. I colored/painted it, but I think I like the pencil better. If you want to see the colored one, I have it at a site. Be advised, it is a religious site. It has alot of music and videos. I think even pagans might enjoy the sights and sounds.

I have posted here before and recieved great feedback that helped me improve my art. I hope for the same again. Though I consider the piece finished, I am not above re-doing some things based upon feedback.

As a Christian, I'm digging your work! I like both the pencil and the color versions but I agree with you about the pencil version. I feel there's just more humanity in the face with that one and I would say if you consider it done, it's done

As an antichrist, I’m Digging your work, agreed on what the above poster said.

Love the stuff u do, really like how you make edges on stuff, it gives some weird feeling over em, like if it was photos pasted together or something, anyhow... Really great piece^^

As the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, I'm blessing your work. (That's...that's a little joke.)

Also Christian, very nice piece indeed. Your shading and anatomy skills are just insane. The hard edges could be softened a bit, but they don't really bother me. I'd say it's done.

Check out my sketchbook if you get a chance, there's one in particular I think you might appreciate. I'd love to hear from you.

And your work IS blessed. Post more!!

    jesus wept - art drawing

Most agree that the lines are too bold. I usually like it that way, but planned on not doing that this time. I did overdo the linework and shading because I tend to loose some of that during the painting process. If you look at the colored version, you will not see as much of the line. If I had known that I would have ended up liking the pencil better, I would have backed off on the use of line.

Nicely done! It's cool to see some Christian art on here (as I'm a Christian). I agree with the crits about the heavy lines, but overall your rendering is very nice, I'd like to see more!

I'm sorry, but that looks so much like Mel Gibson as Jesus. Thats a great drawing though, great details. I can tell you spent a hell of a long time rendering that.

I know that. What I mean was that looks to me like Mel Gibson commissioned a drawing of himself as jesus

I don't see why our respective religions or lack thereof have anything to do with good art.

Jesus is depicted countless times in the history of Art, but people hardly ever let their religion get in the way of admiring them. If I ever met an atheist or anti-christian who said "I don't like it because it depicts christ", I would go apeshit. Actually it isn't even about christianity- denying the skill of any piece of work based on political/religious beliefs is bullshit.

    Anyways, good piece =)

The subtle values in places such as the shirt-strings really hit this one home for me,

but as you have pointed out--- the outlines!

    great rendering as always
nice to see some of your work after a longer time, too!

the outline is way too thick/dark not to bother me :/
tone it down a little and play around with it's thickness (thiner line in "corners" of it)
the hair (the part which lies back in the cape) could use a darker shadow for more depth
the shirt can use some highlights (the surrounding areas are way lighter)

btw: it's always nice to see strong believers who don't try to convince other ppl of their believe wherever they stand or walk

Nicely handled as usually man. My only crits would be that I would like to see you have some more subtle transitions in your values, maybe play with soft vs hard edges to your lines, like the edge of the lips into the skin I especially feel could be more subtle, so the lips don't look outlined. Love what your doing though. Take care and God bless -

    Jesus wept - colored version

colored version is here - www.jesusweptart.blogspot.com

It is a Christian site - I say this to be fair...and politically correct (though I do not usually care about the latter). Anyway, I think that the colored one looks a little too European, even though I tried to use the features of the Kurd and Armenian peoples as reference. Scientists say that the DNA of these peoples are closest to the ancient Jew. How they know is beyond me. Makes sense though - Abraham is from the area where the Kurds live (Northern Mesopotamia). I think the reason the subject still looks European is because I picked and choose features - allowing my preferences to rule.

It would be better to pick one face and use it as complete reference - so I am doing another one which will be ready soon.

P.S. Thanks for the feedback - I appreciate it.
