    Question Blender Help?

So, I am in Painter, happily airbrushing away, go to Blenders, click on Blur...nothing. Try another blender tool, fine. Then another, fine. Then another, fine, and so on and so on.

Click on Blur again, nothing. A fruitless evening. "Why not pick another blender" I hear you say.

Cos I wanted to use the Blur tool!

Why wont it work..what did I do? I must have done summat? But what?

    Ideas gratefully received?

So, what your saying is, that the blur effect is working, but I am just not seeing unless I zoom in?

Thing is, I was working on a piece, and had been using the blur, and tried using it at the same zoom distance, and nothing, No matter what distance I zoomed into. And any other blender I used was fine.

However, I will have another go tonight, at max zoom and let you know how I got on.

    Thanks for posting.

Close Painter, then relaunch and restore the Blur variant to its default state:

Brush Selector menu > Restore Default Variant

    Good luck!

I realize that good tech support means covering all the bases, but if all you need to do is restore a variant to its default state, you don't need to close & relaunch Painter

Just trying to prevent people from picking up that habit...

    Hi Philippe,

Agreed, and I should have explained why I suggested closing and relaunching Painter.

It's because Painter users sometimes have problems making brush variants work (at all) and closing, then relaunching Painter has solved the problem. I experience this myself now and then, and I close and relaunch after I've restored all brush variants to their default state, checked other things (i.e. Preserve Transparency check box, etc.), and they still won't work.

The quicker way was to say what I did say.

Closing and relaunching Painter when things don't work is not a bad habit, it often helps and is often necessary when nothing else works.

Unless you've had these experiences, I can understand why you might not know why we do this and sometimes suggest that others do it.

Thanks for calling the fact to my attention that I didn't provide a full enough explanation along with my suggestion.
