EOW#52 castle chariot
Morgan LeFay's Castle—Made entirely of Food
“its two soft door-posts of custard,
Its dais of curds and butter,
Beds of glorious lard,
Many shields of thin pressed cheese.”
...It rose from its lake of milk in a mystic light of its own--in a greasy, buttery glow. It was the fairy aspect of Castle Chariot...
from T.H. White's The once and future King
The winner of the EOW#51 The Sacred Grove of the Machinae was ATAnderson! congratulations

The Umbrella Man
one day i made the very scary decision to clean under my bed, but i could never had imagened that just under a mere four year, time span a bowl of mashed potato would have grown into a comunity, apparently there are some tiny micro organisms sculpting the mash to protect a fork!! i have no idea why, but its nice to look at, the whole thing is situated in what i can only hope is gravy but i cant be to sure^^
A decomposing castle made entirely from food maintained by the village people all working together in an effort to constantly supply fresh food. The village surrounding this massive structure can be thought of as a giant kitchen, with some of it's buildings made entirely of cast iron acting as an oversized oven to bake goods. Ironically, the immense heat generated by these buildings causes the food to prematurely go bad, making it a constant race to replace.
Fish fillet, cookies & Ice Cream Towers, Pasta Hills, Salad Vegetation, dessert rocks, butter buildings, bacon passage, chocolate chip windows.
I wanted to do a sculpture for the machinae one, but didn't have the time.
John Morrell Manteca Lard
Thin sliced cheddar
Reese's peanut butter cups
Pillsbury classic white frosting
Pillsbury coconut pecan frosting
Betty Crocker Decorating gel (blue)
Workers go to this moving Castle like factory to get work. This massive factory spews out a foul stench of lard and stinks of rotten cheese.

To see the world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wildflower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour.
voted nuru, no questions!
arttorney agree with ATAnderson and it's a very cool idea. i want to eat the reese!!
Shaoshao had you polished it justa little more, maybe another hour of painting - would probably have gotten my vote!
yoitisi: Very nice! I'm thinking about voting for you. Nice lines, nice icecream roofs...
The Umbrella Man I even like your underdeveloped entry! It has a beautiful tranquilty about it and the cheese, and the lonely setting... I does something to me. Very strange, how much I like it, even though the gate is unfinished and the background doesn't look like you put much time in to it... Man, I'm actually considering to vote for you.
Nuru: Great piece, very girly and fairy-like. I think you're going to get enough votes as it is - thus I'll share the fun with someone else. Your entry probably is the best.
yoitisi - here's my vote!

I voted for the umbrella man - your image does look terribly desolate and lonely - it makes me feel sad, looking at it... but its very peaceful and ...slightly odd - and charming.
Hungerartist - i loved your WiP - with the dark, moody scene and the wind whipping the girl's hair to the side, and the bright flecks of yellow - but the feeling is so different in your finished piece- i think i liked it more when it was dark
yoitisi - love your composition - wish we could've seen it in color
yanimator - thanks
beelow - your image kinda reminds me of the book of howl's moving castle by diana wynn jones (one of my favourite books when i was a kid)
Dragon - yes it is terribly girly isnt it - i did want that over-the-top confectionary spun-sugar kind of look, but seeing it now it looks so unsophisticated - ah well
nuru! There is nothing necessarily wrong with girly! Dude/gale I didn't mean it as a negative! It's the castle of a fairy after all, so girly and cute is very much appropriate!

Nuru, got my vote, beautiful castle & a lot of care picking up your ingredients, very nice.
Shaoshao, well done, a lot of detail put on it, my kids really loved it.
Yanimator, beautiful concept and painting as usual, just didn't see the food.
Yoitisi, spectacular composition.
Dragon - thanks btw I looked at your website - love your work!
robmorfin - thanks
Wow, thanks for voting for me Nuru. I wish I had more time to polish and add details, but I'm still kinda new to painting. Thanks for the vote of confidence.
Voted Nuru, simply because it came the closest to the image as I imagined it from the book. It could have used a little more foreground though
Beelow's came second, for the same reason but a bit less
Thanks for the votes y'all, even though stupid me never got around to color it in time. I'd had a pretty lousy week and on top of that mixed the closing dates of COW and EOW, so I ended up not really finishing both Shame on me...On the bright side, since this piece got such a positive response even in the state it is in atm, I might give the style another go on the next one.
BTW, thanks robmorfin
Nuru's got this round for sure. Congrats!
wowowowoow unbrella man shoashoa! voting for your self, naugty naugty now go sit in the corner!! nice entrys tho shoa shoa you got my vote
