DAUNT draws = Sketchbook & quickies

    Hi there. :)

New to this whole concept art dot org thing and I'm trying to become a better artist. Warning ahead of time: I really stink at art. I've lost a lot of the finesse I built up when I was in college art school and now I'm just floundering.

My work here is going to be a broad range of crap because I'm trying to find myself artistically. I have no idea where I am going or what I want to do...I just know I want to draw.

I used to be known on DA by a different name but I have so many negative emotions attached to that gallery I don't think I'll post much of my old work from there.

CRITIQUES: I adore them, I AM asking for them, I want to know where I messed up. If you see something wrong that consistently appears in my work, something I could use some focus on then please let me know, I'll be sincerely grateful. All I ask is that you be specific. Please don't make generalized crits, otherwise I won't be able to understand how to fix them. :) Thanks!

    On for the art....

Hmmm, I think I made a mistake. D: The thread is showing no image in the thread list.....

Oh well here is something I did as a very quick & cheap commission. The style is very amerimanga. I liked the simplicity...and the colors but thats about it.

Another commission. From last year. I actually like how crisp and graphical it turned out.

Thank you so much, hurricane. :)

One last one then I'm done for the day. I promise to post sketches tomorrow.

Her head is huge, sadly. Another commission.

    hiya daunt!

    impressive stuff you are posting!
out of the three you have posted here i find the third lady with wings to be the strongest and most sophisticated. I love the swirling jewel tones you've got going in this piece, very complex and enjoyable graphic effect. Personally i don't really know much about the use of the manga stylizations, but it seems like stepping away from the overly stylized eyes would improve the feel and expression of your characters. however, in the winged lady i am of the opinion that the stylization works just fine there.

I'm so glad you dropped by the catl thread! CATL sketch group would love to draw with you! can provide more information as necessary—> maybe try to say hello at boozer doodle: I can guarantee i'll be wearing some kind of black knitted hat and i have glasses.

hells yeah on getting and acing the comissions! show us more more more!

    go daunt!

Aw, hey guggen! Thanks so much for the comments! I confess, I've gotten to the point where I want to start evolving past the stylization of the whole 'manga' thing. I want to stay with the style but maybe cut back on the asian influence a little.

I've got some sketches I did this weekend, I'd love to get your opinion on them. I'll try to post them later tonight.

I'll shoot you a PM about the Boozer Doodle!

I was trying to go for a more commercial stylized art for this....I'm trying to compose a 'corporate goth' type image that I can practice my vector work on but....haha so far it's not going so well. Below Miss PonyGoth is a sketch of one of my characters. I miss sketching this much...
