I can't find any cool screensavers..

I'm sure it's off topic, but i was just wondering if anyone knows where i can find some cool screensavers. I google search screensavers and always end up getting nothing but crap. anyone know of something good, or somewhere good to go?

Na, all it does it download a video file and loop it. Nothing killer really... well unless you have a 100mhz celeron or something.

Screensavers are unnecessary and obnoxious. I'm reading through something long and philosophical/important when suddenly this screensaver comes along.
How often do you really stop and look at it? And if you do, what do you get out of it? It's just a waste of system resources. Kind of like wallpapers, but worse for so many reasons. At least a wallpaper (still unnecessary) just sits there quietly, slowing your machine down.

And if by "off topic", you mean irrelevant, this is the Lounge. It doesn't need to be art related.

But if you're on a shared network... It's gonna use a lot of bandwidth, right? I saw the settings, were you could set the download rates... 100kbs both up and down. Isn't that pretty much, especially up?

One cool screensaver I'd like to find is one that looks like the old "Fractals" screensaver from windows 3.1. I haven't had any luck tracking one down, though.

I like this one a lot. It's free.

    The Matrix screensaver

Try cnet.com and zdnet.com ....might have to do a lot of digging to find good, free ones.

dude best screensaver is saving great pieces of art i find into a slides folder and setting it as slideshow screensaver.

I do the exact same thing. Sometimes you see an image you haven't looked at for a while and then you have to stop the screensaver and go look at their work all over again. It can also be quite relaxing, your monitor essentially becomes an enormous digital photo frame for a while!
