really awesome work! The traditional especially. For the first one I found the sketch more interesting because the way you drew the right hand and foot is so cool, but maybe its better I dunno. I do like the addition of the left hand though, gives the right leg more tension.

woha, have to say this forum is very living thing. I am new around and just getting in touch with the CA, but the amount of talented and skilled artists made big impression on me. Happy to read some nice feedback of you folks also on my works already.

@ted4ever - did you actually mean the pencil or digital colored bird-man piece? The colored one is my take on superhero called Hawkman so it's based on some known elements.

@Malakuko - Glad you like the traditional stuff. In fact digital art get into my life more seriously just about 5 years ago. Till that time I was all for traditional media which I still found to be more atractive.
The additional parts on the painting you mentioned are based on the whole idea of the image, which is about young couple awaiting their first-born.

    Thanks,

Didn't have much of a doodle time this week. Lot's of rough production sketches though. Anyway, my "2 cents" here

    Bublabluzvice and the Dragon

I managed to finish something before the end of this year. There still is a room for improvements, but the deadline made it. It's an illustration based on a short fantasy story by Wit Szostak done for the Istrozin (fanzine). Hope you like it. C&C are welcome.

Best Wishes for the New Year 2011!

    Hooey mate,
is it pastel I see on first post ? (penultimate one, the man seen from the back) I can feel the volume of his body as he was standing just before me ! I don't understand colour enough to see why you used this many different tones - blues, yellows, and reds - for the skin - though it evidently results in a wonderful skin material.

The card player is very cool ! Photoshop only ? His face makes me think of Dominique Pinon.

    Keep it up !

    Daily sketch !
Old sketchbook, with apes and ghost towns.

@ Mawh - yeah, it's pastel work. Glad you like that one. Somewhere / sometime during my studies I accepted the idea of using many different colors developing materials one often see as one color only. Looking back to works of Impresionism, Fauvism but also paintings of Frank Frazetta and Boris Vallejo helped me to build it on. Many times it's about color echos from the surrounding or about transparency of the material. I often use complementary colors to pick out something no matter the color can be visible in real life. Problem with recent commercial illustration is that artists tend to build images based on movie screen or photography rather than feelings and color observation. The Card Player you like is based on movie shot observation, and you already can see the difference between these two. I think the Card Player is more appealing to consumer because the film and photography have such a strong influence to us.

@ a la bapsi - hehe, thanks for the short. That piece reminds me my university studies a lot. The time of experiments.

I bought me a new mini sketchbook so I am doing this little observations sketches more frequently now. Here are some most recent pages out of it and a little painting I did as a X-mas present for my love... As always, comments and critique are welcome. Thanks for your time.

Thanks. Yeah I need to keep on practicing. This thread is like one page only so far so I have a long way to go to be 5stars artist I stopped with studies few years ago and worked only on projects. Practising is a life time journey, there is always something new to learn.

There is a topic on DSF named "Pocket Monster". Here is my slightly wrong interpretation of it, since pocket monster suppose to sit inside of the pocket not to be made of pockets, right?
