Creatures and characters - Small Update
2006 was a good year for me on conceptart.org. I began my freelance career and was able to exand my portfolio tremendously thanks to great weekly topics, deadlines, feedback and motivation from all of you.
It's great to finally have all my work here in the FF thread. Most of these were done here in our weekly activities forum with the exception of one or two from other contests.
I'm extremely busy now with freelance contracts, but am hoping to take part in many more COW and CHOW contests whenever I have the time.
Thanks for all the comments!
Chuck

absolutely badass.
your style is very maintained througout these images as well, very cool.
Inspirational!
the snail is awesome, however i question the perspective of the far shell, especially if its suppose to be a 90 degree angle

Wow, really awesome pieces! My favorites are definitely the beautifully detailed snail and the maternity armor (
). The only thing I can think of to say after looking at so many of your pieces at once is that the angle on the right heel of the peeling zombie fellow seems like it's too turned toward the viewer. But of course that's quite minor--that piece as a whole is really spiffy. :]

Wow, very impressive amount of work. The detail is amazing. I think the zombie pic is defiantly my favorite. Keep up the great work!

Great pieces...I especially love the maternity armor.
The armored bear is Iorek from His Dark Materials, right? I love that illustration.

My brain just imploded. I agree about the maternity armor, very original, very funny and interesting concept.

bestow: Thanks! I was thinking closer to 45 degrees, but who knows. I've heard that shell critique before, so you're probably right.
Mattinian: THX! :] Back acha.
Theo: Thanks! Marketplace thingie = CHOW37: Thief - Human/Animal mix.
banhatin: I still haven't seen Pirates2. I've been admiring your sketchbook - I promise to go back and comment soon. I'll keep posting my work, but you've got to give me another year to build up a new batch. If I ever get back to China, you can show me around.
ekblack: That zombie fellow was done for the Halloween Self-Portrait activity in CHOW. If the heel angle is your only critique of the whole batch, then you're letting me off easy. Thank you very much.
bradyscott: Cool - I'll have to try another Halloween Self-Portrait next October.
hurricane: Cheers! Thanks for some stiff competition. Hopefully we can tie on a few more activities this year.
MikeCorriero: You're too kind, sir. Thanks for dropping in. Now to turn more of this personal work into work work.
BOOM!: Right you are! They've all been posted someplace or other; usually for COW or CHOW in the community activities forum. That second one in particular was for COW63, has an "official tutorial" here: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=79449 , and got a print-up in ImagineFX13.
dorian: Thanks!
thundercake: Right! There are a lot of great Ioreks here in CHOW63: http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=93058 - Check it out.
Sponcer: Hehe, the maternity armor was an idea I've had sitting around for awhile as a prop in a graphic novel that I never finished. When "Legionary Armor" came up in the Industrial Design of the Week forum, I took the opportunity to finally put the idea down on paper. Sorry about your brain.
alti: Thanks, mate! See ya around MySpace.

Was the polar bear one inspired by Northern Lights??

Kickass aliens. I would show this to my family, except that my aunt has a horrid phobia of aliens; it's so bad, she won't even watch X-Files.
