Anyhoo, your naked ladies are looking awefully naked and ladylike, ( ) but I think you need to work a little bit on edge defenition. Not as in making a huge stroke around your subjects, but trying to keep at least that outer edge nice n clean.
Yeahyeahyeahyeahyeyeyeyeahyeah 2nd page party woooooooo -confetti- -party hats-
anubis713: awe thanks! and I do love drawin kittens. i love drawing them so i can stare at them and wish I had them for real. Is that sad?
Nom_the_puppet: I'll try! I've had a bunch of ideas for more animal babes to draw, I just never get around to actually doing it. Soon! ps. i like your work a lot.
Rhineville: Wow someone actually came back here more than once! youre definitely right though. I've been trying to make my lines cleaner, my hand always just wants to go over and over the same line. Trying to train myself not too.
Well here's a collage of myself I was working all last night on. Made out of all cutouts from magazines. It's a part of a present for my dad that my little sister & I are working on. She's making herself, & I did myself, & we're both making his face, & then cutting them out and putting them in a composition on a page with some other thingsss.
Well yeah anyways, here it is! heres my face. I cheated on the ear. It was too hard.
I like the collage work - I saw an exercise on value and color in a book once that suggested that technique, but I never got around to it. I'll have to give it a crack now that I've seen how cool yours looks
Hey chelsea, thank you very much for leaving a comment in my SB! I took a look at all your stuff and I like it. You had a huge dump in your very first post here and there's a definite improvement since then. I think you should continue to work on your drawing. When you take the time to shade your work it has a very good and unique look to it. I won't bother critting anatomy and proportions, because I think you're doing these things on purpose for style.
Speaking of style, I'm not a fan of artsy stuff like your last one, but that particular work looks cool, so good job!
Hey thanks for the comment! Great work! Your stuff is really expressive, especially when it comes to the color work. Keep pursuing the water color- that stuff is looking great. Personally I hate water color for the only reason that I know I'll never be able to grasp how to work with them. Really great animals! For some reason your animals look full of life, but when you get to drawing the human form there is a bit of a disconnect. Keep working on it and keep studying Bammes! Great job!
First time I'm seeing your stuff. I'm seeing not only the skill advancement as this thing progresses, but style development as well. That's a good thing to have happen. Doesn't work that way for everyone.
You asked earlier about 30 sec. poses. The best advice I can give is to think of what you want to capture before you sit down to draw. Do you want to capture the line of the spine in the various poses, muscle contours on the interior of the body, the position of the pelvis in relation to the ribcage and/or head, shadow pattern, etc. You'll use the time more effectively if you just focus on key ideas. You don't have to get the whole figure down.
bbassir: hey thanks a ton! people arent my favorite thing to draw really, i get frustrated easily with human anatomy, especially when it comes to shading naked bodies. I get bored! Oh well, more animals for me!
shobunkin: thanks thanks thanks thanks i will!
lefran: there will definitely be more of that!
Artzncraphs: Thanks! I really just like drawing/painting things that make me smile inside.
Windmaker: Thank youuu!! You should. Theyd be lovely.
Two more watercolors from last night!
Messy messy. Finding skin tones is hard. I like how the cowface turned out though. Wish I didnt color the background that way though.
African safariiii sunset from one of my animal books:
Chelsea, you've been busy! Little sis' portrait's lookin' good, the giraffe is awesome, but those watercolors...BAM!! I think you just found a new medium you should master. Those are GREAT! The first one and the safari are sweet but my favorite is the smoking girl. That one is clutch. The hippo is right on too, your animals' anatomy and proportions are really very strong, well done.
