Petra Hepburn - Sixties supermodel

Examples of strong sixties female characters: Julie Christie, or Twiggy, Jane Birkin, Jean Shrimpton, Marianne Faithfull, Edie Sedgwick, Mary Quant, Diana Ross etc. For a good 'sixties look' think Linda Harrison as Nova in Planet of the Apes. Also think of movies like the original Casino Royale or even Austin Powers.
Your concept should include a feel for the sixties, but exageration is the key. Also concentrate on character and personality as well as 'the look'. And remember to think outside the box!
1 = Sixties
2 = Supermodel
3 = Trashy!
Now have fun!

Great start guys!
novenus - The pose is coming along really nicely. Are we going to see all of her? Cutting a character off at the ankles can look a bit awkward.
Bryan Young - Smashing pose, and loads of character already! Good to see things kicking off here...
Here's my start. This is tougher than I thought it might be...
Edit: Second update. Still trying for that McGinnis vibe with lots of patterned cloth. The blank space behind her is where I'm going to put the Warhol thing, and I'm still tryng to work out how to incorporate flat poster style into a more painty pic.
Final image. I had to rush the BG a bit as I'll be internet free for a couple of days so I needed to get it done tonight. Going to work some more on it some other time.
Billy took that 'photo of Petra on a hot New York afternoon in May, and it became one of his favourites. There was 'something' in her expression; something 'little girl lost', almost as though, for a moment, she'd understood how transient this all was. How ephemeral. The sixties were coming to an end, and things were changing; Billy had known it and somehow Petra had done as well. If only he could change things now...

Here's the bare bones of what I'm thinking of producing, this is a lot tougher than it sounded but I'm having fun looking at 60's stuff on the net anyway
Here's where I'm at with it right now, still lots of work to go with it but I'm enjoy doing it so much - so thanks Poshspice!
Here's my final, pleased with some bits and not so pleased with others.

nice start this week!
don't really have time for this, but hey, it's not every day that you get to
draw a trashy sixties supermodel..
here's a Mcginnis inspired wip:
first of all, thanks for the comments! will try to take time of tomorrow to return the favor.
secondly, been busy with relatives n stuff during the holiday.. so there has not been time for any dates with
miss Hepburn.. here's the result of a last minute rendez vous with her.

OK, so I KNOW I wont be getting this done tonight but here is what I have. I tried doing the drawing in the computer but I just couldn't get the control I can get with a pencil. There are probably 10 different iterations that I didn't save that I have done over the week. I finally broke down and scanned in a traditional drawing and did flat coloring. I think this method will work well in the future but I will have to scan in black and white instead of grayscale. If anyone has any advice, comments and/or critiques, I would love to here them!
She came out looking a lot like Twiggy in the face area so I added the shallow skin on the face to add a sort of drugged out aspect, something I will add to in rendering (if I ever do it with this piece.)

Made several sketches, can't choose though.
Thanks for the advice Vahn, Poshspice and Monstertree but i'm a bit stubborn.

re-edit... inspiration hit... but still probably too busy to paint... damn sked.

So much great stuff here already.
Ok thats enough finished (ok lots of tweaking left but i have had enough)

WIP so far:
I want to make the track marks look real nasty (heh heh heh)
Drat. I guess I got into it a little late as far as the initial sketches go. In retrospect, yeah, I guess she's a little too postmodern to be Mod. At the time, the biggest clues I went for were the skirt (that I picked up from some research), the hair and the skates. Probably should have gone more with a poodle skirt or something like that. The trash was too easy ... probably just because I got to trash the pretty girl heh heh. And the needle and cigarette filter were my attempts to add to the track marks ... which probably wouldnt have been seen as track marks without the needle ...
As it were ... here's my go, flaws and all...

I am new here and I didnt see this challenge group until about an hour and a half ago. Here is a quick sketch with basic color. She has problems...but I think you can see where I was going. Thanks
And here she is after a little refinement.

This one was extremely fun to do. Here is my Britney Spears inspired pose.
I have such a long journey yet to go to be a truly good artist. -_-
I was hoping to finish the car but seems like I'll be spending the weekend on countryside without computers. Happy Easter!

I made it, whew! Had fun with this one. Comments are welcome, I wanted to post a day in advance so I might make any serious changes that stood out. Thanks

Second only CHOW, the last one being one of my first digital attempts, hopefully I've made some progress since then. Tried to adopt an appropriate style in keeping with the 60's theme.
Couldn't avoid the cliched bubble chair I'm afraid but have been consciously avoiding checking to see what others had posted until I'd fiished.
Favourites so far have got to be Stephen_R and Tommoy.

Thought I should get back into CHOW. Great topic. My earliest thumbnail sketch had the pop art background like Posh's.... but he chased me away from the idea. When I think of sixties women, I think of those stringy butt-cut hairdos.
Happy Easter everyone!

As "Belle de Jour". Petra works as supermodel by day...at night sells his body, triyng to catch the fame...

whew, I wish I caught this weeks topic earlier in the week
Petra was the queen of hair in the 60's. That is ALL that she cared about. If her hair was not largest and the best looking, she would insist on getting wasted off of expensive liquors and fine wines all day and night...
