    Winning DeviantArt

    SIGH.......

I've been trying to revive my deviantArt page ever since I learned how money and free stuff much my friend is getting from his rabid fanmobs on DeviantArt. I just didn't anticipate how hard it's been to get pageviews, +faves and watchers...

One challenge is doing it without compromising my integrity... meaning no bad art, no Naruto fan art, no Sonic hentai, no furries.

My strat so far: Post clear, appealing & noticeable images at peak hours... but it's just not working, I've gotten less than 200 pageviews since I started posting again. I even started making carebear comments on younger artits's pages, hoping to win over some impressionable minds...

It's going sooo slowly though... Any Ideas? ~~

I'm pretty much fanart free and I'm doing kinda ok. The "bad art" thing's a bit iffy on me, but I'm getting better...... I think...

Oh, and chatrooms can be your friend. UnseenArtists works for a lotta folks, though I don't know if you like that idea or not.

Draw furries, naruto or yaoi and write in your journal that you like to cut yourself, listening to the latest emo crap that's out there and write poems. Oh yeah, do reply to others with the most stupidest way you can such as adding a "Z" or "X" like for example "LoLz", "AwEsOmEz!" and writing in that letter case gives you credibilty, btw do sign up for MySpace and repeat the same process.

P.S take pictures of yourself with make up, even if youre a boy.

    two words: inflation art.

As the pattern gets more intricate and subtle being swept along is no longer enough.

If you want to run a business, pick what kind of business you want to run , and follow through in an intelligent way. Galloping off to do what your buddy did just because he made a few bucks and you are feeling left behind is not a wise business move.

I think you are awesome, and I wish you the best in your endeavors, but I am tired of repeating myself, I am very busy with my new baby, and I am no longer a regular participant here, so please do not contact me to ask for advice on your career or education. All of the advice that I have to offer can already be found in the following links. Thank you.

glowing stuff seems to help immensely in your pics.
although well designed characters with tons of backstory seem to be well-favoured too.

Why waste time winning favors from high school kids when you could be bettering yourself and cultivating your style, going out for the kinds of art jobs you actually want, making enough to buy whatever you need and eventually starting your own studio and then turning down the same DA prom queens who can only draw Naruto yaoi but haven't figured out why the real world hasn't embraced them for their self-proclaimed awesomeness?

    ...I mean, just a thought.

    I like your thinking.

Steph's right. high school kiddies won't give you an income. Spend your time on preparing to work pro-level, and then you won't have to reflect in humility on winning favours from high school kiddies. Save your integrity, and save yourself from cringing at the memory of appeasing pseudo-intellectual emo kids for rewards my friend .

If you want creepy, pathetic strangers to send you money and presents, why bother with making art when you can just become a cam boy?

I'd rather have a small fanbase on CA, than a huge one on DA.

You could just become a playa and hit up some women (or men) with money if you're that hard up for cash.

Its really bad. But, once you made an account there (even years ago) and it is immedeately found with google (if you seach on your own name), you'll better have some good samples of your art there instead of your primary school scribbles! I just found out my dA still existed...

Here's a tip that applies to most aspects of your life, not just how to make mad cash as an artist:

Anything worth having requires work. Real work. Earn it.

If winning favors on DeviantArt is part of your business plan...then keep pimping, because that's about all you will amount to. If you aim to make a business of your art...then I suggest focusing on your art. A false sense of celebrity is just going to stunt your growth.
