Wow man. These are really well photoshopped. I think a bit too over board to go for realism. I like the second one the most because it seems to have the most creativity behind it. I suppose it seems to me like a story board concept more than the others.

I would love to see the originals just to judge how much work you did.. as well as what's real and what's not.
Technically, these are really well done in almost every way.
Content wise, i am not very impressed. I have no clue what messages you are trying to send to me, the viewer through these photos.

    Keep posting though

Hey Randis. When i say the message is not clear. I mean i do not know what you are trying to say with your photos. Every photo has a story.. at least all the good ones do. There's an implied narrative as the media people like to call it. With your photos i can't seem to find what it is you are trying to tell us with your photos.

Take photo 6 or 9, you have the pose.. but what does it say? In 6 it is a woman looking towards us wearing a pair of pants and a bikini with a very eccentric background and the words Future rythmn. I dont really understand the relationship between all the different elements. Maybe you intended that.. i dont know.

For 9, a guy standing with his arms hanging behind him as well as the same guy with his arms hanging in front of him with a very big sky background.

Both photos are very well technically, but i am wondering what on earth this is all about! Do you catch my flow--? Maybe you can shed some light on what you intended with these.

I totally can not agree with that.
Its the same if you say "every good photo need an animal or insect or every good photo must be outdoor or every good photo need colours, it is wrong to say and simply makes no sense as Photography contains a VERY large spectrum of categories and aspects and story is just one of many.

I don't remember posting here any street live, travel or political Pictures.

Fashion Photography is some kind of gray aria, in most cases its not even about the cloths they supposed to represent.
Not all images need a message, something funny, sad or moving.
If you visit a magazine shop and take a look at the large variety of fashion and lifestyle mags you will see that the message is simple, you see what the pictures show you, very simple and without a second hidden meaning.

I never had any intention of showing any message other then the image itself.
You can show it to any random person and most likely they all will tell you all the same impression the images gave them and that is the message "it looks great". A message the majority supposed to understand.

There are many kinds of Photography but non kind is the best or most interesting.
Starting with animals, nature, macro shots of insects in your garden, porn, artistic nudes, ADs, Fashion, beauty, architecture, streetlife, travel and so on an so on. endless list.
There is room for every kind of taste and purpose.

Nice work. =) I agree with some of the others about wanting to see some images that aren't as heavily photoshopped. I would have to say that my faves are 1, 3, and 9. I really like the mood and color scheme in 1 and 3. The angle and perspective really won me over with 9. I think I would have enjoyed number 2 more if there was a bit more contrast with the whites. I seem to lose the model and her light clothes in the light drapery. I'm not sure if that was the intention behind it?

Can't wait to see more. =)

Photography contains a VERY large spectrum of categories and aspects and story is just one of many.

very simple and without a second hidden meaning.
Firstly, saying that there is a large spectrum of categrories, although true doesnt mean that there isnt a story to every category.

Secondly, i am studying Media and Society.. there isnt a single fashion shot that doesnt have a second meaning.. not ONE! All, and i mean all of them have an underlying message. We took two weeks of "semiotic analysis" which basically is the study of signs and what they mean. We applied this to advertisements, fashion shots, car shots.. everything. A story always comes through. Some with more of a story than others.. but always a story.

I didnt say there wasnt every kind of taste or purpose and i didnt comment about the best kind of photography or the most interesting one. I am not attacking you.. trying to give you what i think would make you a better photographer.. take it or leave it.

I don't want to go to deep into that now, but you will learn that the reality is often pretty much different from what you learn in schools.
I was in a school too, also as a teacher.
there is a big difference between having 2 weeks "semiotic analysis" about photography or working in the field for some years, dealing with clients editors and your team or taking snapshots at home in free time
I know by now realy many people in this business, starting by models, editors other Photographers and so on...
Well, actually not trieng to say anything with that.
It does not always really matter whom you know but you sure get a view for things and see how things are actually done.
I do really not care what other people teach in schools, they have to teach something anyway and some things may be useful, but using your own eyes is a must if you want to get things done. There are billions of Photographers and designers everywhere...

Don't worry, i don't feel attacked in any form, its just a conversation.

    peace

Wow these are all STUNNING images... I dont mind the photoshop work one bit - all I care is of the end result, not how you got to it.

These are all beautiful, each has excellent composition, and subtle / restrained / calculated use of color. Your lighting and angles are superb.

I wish to see more! Keep it up!

really awesome stuff! gr8 to see this sort of work on here.Love number 1 interms of compo. I'd have to agree with claude on some levels I see it this way one of the main things photographers aim for is memorability its what makes their images sell and to have memorability one needs something to connect to if not it will be just another pretty picture in a book. look at Avidon, Lee jenkins and James wood these 3 are noted as being some of the top photographers in the world. Look on there images and you can clearly see something beneath the surface which is what makes these work sell. but as you said the field your in today is demanding and working with clients and such you have to produce work that they will approve..but then again so do these individuals.

I love! I have questions too! Where do you get all these wonderful settings! Well, at least PS aside, I'm sure some are actual settings. I can be totally wrong though. ^^ I love the nude ones. I also agree that not all photos need a story/message/meaning or occasionally concept. Hope to see more soon.

    @zemotion
Yes sure some settings are real, some are 3d/ps work, some are backdrops from other shootings. How is not important i think, only the result counts.
I usually do hair and makeup myself toom not in PS i meen.

Awesome stuff! And interesting discussion aswell =)

A thought. Could it be that we are confusing meaning & story content with emotional content?

Because i can definately agree that not every image conveys a story, whereas every good picture should (in my opinion create an emotional response in the viewer. This goes for all art, not just photography but also painting, sculpture, drawings, performance, conceptual, etc.

Ie. if it leaves you without any emotional response, it's not a good image and you will quickly ignore/forget it.

And these pictures do create a response in me at least, especially the first ones.

    Just some thoughts =)
