Really digging this sketchbook, the animal sets and humans you do are incredibly well rendered. Its really nice work, nearly gives me a slightly retro vibe, but in a good way. Cant wait to see more.

    Thanks for the comments Dennis.

You've got some beautiful technical skill here. A shit load of it.

You've got the aesthetics. I've got the spidery dogshit.

You're on my list now, I'll be watching you.

    Valley of the moon?

Incredible work man. I browsed through your sketchbook and there is nothing I can say but WOW. Your rendering is great and you have a very precise hand. Do you have some training suggestions?

By the way your last painting just reminded me of the valley of the moon in San Juan, Argentina. Its a very beautifull valley in the Andes, of large mountains eroded by the wind, and there are some big round stones ... and skorpions. I was looking in the internet for it and found some nice images...The name in spanish is Valle de la luna.

5 stars to you, keep posting.

    I'd say...This is...wel...(must be kind) Good man!
You're one out of a few that doesn't (allways) draws women like men with boobs... confgrats on that one! Still on the first page, of which I'm sure it was noticed before, that one boob is very wierd...it's allmost as if she has one attached and the other is still beeing pasted on, seeing if it's right or so...could be my terrible sight, but just checking. Anyway, I'll come back here later.

Hey Dennis Currie, I like you.

    Thanks for the encouragement.

For the record, I'm not as funny as you seem to think I am,

    ..but thanks anyway.

Keep on rocking, and leave those dog portraits alone. They'll make you ill. I swear they will.

Woo! Lot of updates since I've been by -- I'm sorry I haven't sooner. Grats on page 2, great work. The last painting makes me think of Dune right away (of course). Really liked your line and value sketches a ways up, I guess I'm into simplicity.

    Great work as always, sir!

man you look like a patient man...awesome work as usual, much respect.
Regarding the digital painting, well, its just a tool, so everything depends on the user.
To get started you will need a decent pc, and the painting software.Photoshop CS, or Painter (wich works in a much more "traditional" way)
just browse thru the forums or google the names to get more info.About the tablet, check out Interceptor's thread here:

hope to see more from ya soon

    keep sharing

Smile Valley of the moon 4 you

Denis, thanks for the advice and please keep posting, your work is amazing. My work, at the moment is consuming most of the free time i have, but i am trying to squeeze each moment to put my pencil in paper and draw something. I have to thank my wife for staying by me and you guys for creating all the fantasy I would like to try and do. But I will make time to practice more....
In the meantime, here are some images of the valley of the moon. I didn't find any with scorpions, or huge spiders that live there. I have seen some with bigger boulders but i can not find them

For digital, i am not just a beginner at it, and have an old A6 tablet that a colleague gave me. What i know is. If you are the moving guy, traveling all the time and want to have your tablet nearby, then get yourself an A6 Wacom Graphire (should be between 60~80, not sure Canadian). The problem with that one is that you work mostly in "relative" mode, your screen has more resolution than the tablet (smaller movement causes big changes), I have one of these that a colleague passed on to me and its fun to use. If you are staying home and can afford it try a Wacom Intuous A4 or bigger, with this I think you can work in direct mode (the amount you change is similar to the stroke you made), a colleague of mine has got one and its easier to use. If you are really into it and have enough to spare get yourself a screen tablet. There your tablet is a monitor and you can work directly over your painting (your hand works over the screen), I never worked with one of these.

Amazing, my friend. I hope to advance my skills so far. Dammit why do my friends like to hang out in the dark? Well, i suppose theres things to be seen there. Perhaps i will buy one of those clip on reading lights for sketching. Otherwise my friends will have to deal with seeing even less of me. Back on topic, you are obviously skilled and seem really cool. I knew i should be meditating; my damned mind wont stop thinking! Peace, my friend.

    Thumbs up

Your linework never ceases to amaze me. I was just taking a look at the ballpoint work and ...i just find your linework amazingly precise. I am not one to crit your work I just find the legs of the basketball player a bit weird, might be an effect of the shirt though.

Wow man, this is grade A stuff....you say you're just a novice, I don't know about that. And self taught at that...I'd have guessed you spent a few years in a classical Atelier or something.

Anyway, great work, very precise and confident...even the rough stuff. I should aspire to be as diligent! This thread is an inspiration....
