    Naked in Ghent!!!

I'm sick of not getting in figure drawing practice!

Does anyone know if there are any open figure drawing sessions here in Ghent, Belgium? I'm hoping to find something real traditional 30sec, 1min, hour, 3hour poses....

Maybe the art school (St. Lucas) allows people to be guest in life drawing classes? Any idea anyone?

There are indeed night classes, but you need to register for those at the start of the schoolyear. They cost about 150 euro. Usually poses from 10-20 minutes with all kinds of materials such as charcoal, paint, ...

Your best choice now would be to ask a friend to pose naked until the start of the year.

thanks for the info about the night classes. i will remember it for in the fall,... but maybe there is something someplace over the summer?

Well, there's a meeting of people who draw tomorrow at 10 am at the trainstation if it's some consolation.
    http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...t=23326&page=3
    for more information.
    It's not a lot, but it's something.
After that, you can get still organize something with the people there on a monthly basis to get together and draw.

    Not a problem.
But if it really makes you that sick of not drawing in a social atmosphere, I advice you to at least try and make it.
Will be enjoyable and the next one will be quite a while after that.

    fyi

    hey, i also found this
at the Vrije Academie Gent (which is basically above the cafe De Toverdos)
haven't tried it there yet and know absolutely nothing about it but I emailed with them and they said it was okay to just show up on their Wednesday model sketch sessions. Its not very "professional" looking but maybe its okay for a start.

and so... now i will look for the thread where it says about all the fun i missed out on the other day.

    Hey Womanonfire,

I'm attending the evening classes in at Sint Lucas in Ghent. It's okay, I guess. They just stretch the Art-thingie a little to far. Haven't seen any way to construct a figure yet. Nothing on anatomy, and they seem to look down on concept art and realistic drawing in general.

And if you are looking for someone to draw with... I live in Ghent. Maybe we can meet up? Just drop a line! It's always nice to meet people with the same interests!

    Cheers!

Ghent, the only town in Belgium.

At least that's what CA.org teaches me. Google image search teaches me that the town looks awesome, though. In terms of architecture and big wide open streets.

Well, good luck on the finding naked people.

I'll give you a tip. Baldy with glasses. First year. Always a half hour late.

    Does that ring a bell?

I went to see 300, yes! But my knee? Nope! Just had an operation on my back last september. Maybe that's the reason for the confusion.

Ill post a pic also. And who are you? Tall blonde dude? Did we ever have a discussion about hacking a bank?

I'm the blond dude indeed. The one who never gets any sleep, and was eyeballed funnily when he was wearing his iPod during drawing.
The one that requires coffee every 1 hour 50 minutes to stay active.
Epias and the rest of the sketchgroup can attest to this.

And no, that pictures = 98% Steve-O from jackass.
Just remove the beard and grow the same hair.
