    Petra Hepburn Sixties supermodel. Petra is an appalling example of how fashion superstardom can go to your head. She indulges herself in all the latest trends and vices of her age, and hangs around with the 'in' crowd of Sixties New York. (Warhol etc) Indulged and decadent, she knows no limits.

    Examples of strong sixties female characters: Julie Christie, or Twiggy, Jane Birkin, Jean Shrimpton, Marianne Faithfull, Edie Sedgwick, Mary Quant, Diana Ross etc. For a good 'sixties look' think Linda Harrison as Nova in Planet of the Apes. Also think of movies like the original Casino Royale or even Austin Powers.

    Your concept should include a feel for the sixties, but exageration is the key. Also concentrate on character and personality as well as 'the look'. And remember to think outside the box!

    1 = Sixties
    2 = Supermodel
    3 = Trashy!

    Great description. Not an easy task - i don't expect this thread to be flooded by entries - but it looks like a real job description.

    note from a 60s survivor: not all 60s women of fashion fame were Twiggy wannabees, though the trend toward near anorexic thinness pretty much began in that era. plenty of curvaceous and well-endowed women from that era, feel free to make 'em meaty if that's your inclination, though there weren't many garment racks in the trans-C cup region.

    I'm in. What can I say, I likes to draw the ladies. Here's my rough sketch of Petra basking in the glow of her adoring public. On a side note: what's up with the mankeymankey... stuff? I'm just curious.

    The mankeymankey stuff is a filter that replaces all mention of the month of A.p.r.i.l. (as part of the 1st of the month prank)... and nice sketch, bryan! you always come up with quick sketches with tons of character.

    Great start guys!

    novenus - The pose is coming along really nicely. Are we going to see all of her? Cutting a character off at the ankles can look a bit awkward.

    Bryan Young - Smashing pose, and loads of character already! Good to see things kicking off here...

    Here's my start. This is tougher than I thought it might be...
    CHOW #66 Guest Host: Poshspice. Topic: Petra Hepburn

    Edit: Second update. Still trying for that McGinnis vibe with lots of patterned cloth. The blank space behind her is where I'm going to put the Warhol thing, and I'm still tryng to work out how to incorporate flat poster style into a more painty pic.

    CHOW #66 Guest Host: Poshspice. Topic: Petra Hepburn

    Final image. I had to rush the BG a bit as I'll be internet free for a couple of days so I needed to get it done tonight. Going to work some more on it some other time.

    CHOW #66 Guest Host: Poshspice. Topic: Petra Hepburn

    Billy took that 'photo of Petra on a hot New York afternoon in May, and it became one of his favourites. There was 'something' in her expression; something 'little girl lost', almost as though, for a moment, she'd understood how transient this all was. How ephemeral. The sixties were coming to an end, and things were changing; Billy had known it and somehow Petra had done as well. If only he could change things now...

    Well your struggles are not apparent to us mortals. Both takes look great so far, but there's something quite striking about that 2nd pose. It does seem a little strange that the bottom of her dress lines up with the bottom of the bg image though.

    BryanYoung - As others have already mentioned, that sketch has all sorts of character. I think you could push the pose a little further by either twisting her hips away from us a little more, or bringing the far leg forward slightly help it line up with the hip.

    Alright, I'm done nitpicking. Back to my own entry.

    nice start this week!
    don't really have time for this, but hey, it's not every day that you get to
    draw a trashy sixties supermodel..

    here's a Mcginnis inspired wip:

    OK, so I KNOW I wont be getting this done tonight but here is what I have. I tried doing the drawing in the computer but I just couldn't get the control I can get with a pencil. There are probably 10 different iterations that I didn't save that I have done over the week. I finally broke down and scanned in a traditional drawing and did flat coloring. I think this method will work well in the future but I will have to scan in black and white instead of grayscale. If anyone has any advice, comments and/or critiques, I would love to here them!

    She came out looking a lot like Twiggy in the face area so I added the shallow skin on the face to add a sort of drugged out aspect, something I will add to in rendering (if I ever do it with this piece.)

    Damn i was gonna use the reference to todays trashyness by throwing a "purse" and "dog" in there - but Vahn beat me to it -

    Guess ill have to come up with something a little different - Posh, i really like the use of "pop art" in your background that really caught my eye. I think the pose in the right is the stronger one.

    Filip - i really like your wip - but i think it could use a little more 60's flare - mabye a design on the chair or somethign im not sure, but atm it doesn't exude that time period to me.
