Awesome Carl. The only crit i'd throw at the sketch is that his ear seems to be a bit luminescent in that dark shadow.

    Otherwise it's the bee's nuts!

Hey I just checked out your body of work, you look to be improving, esp in your digital art. I love the Pavarotti!

Some quick value studies.... from 20mins to 1 hour. I started off really rough and scratchy which I liked... then I got caught up doing clean female faces. Old faces with wrinkles are a lil easier and faster to paint than smooth skinned girls.

I'm trying to get faster so I can get together a concept art folio.

    more value studies

did some full body value studies in the same style as the faces... I feel like something is clicking with this style... might try to push a polished piece.

I like the irony of the huge figure against the tiny note on your Pavarotti caricature. My only critique of that one would be that the proportions feel a touch too exaggerated. His skull may need more of a back, or his shoulders should be a little less wide. He seems handicapped at his current proportions.

The CHOWs aren't so bad. Folks are quite nice, and there's lots of good critique to be found if you post in the WIP thread often (and offer critique in return.) You should enter a round!

I rewatched practical light and colour from the collection. it inspired me to get into my biggest weakness: colour! so I spent the week doing colour thumbnails. still need to work on cloth and hands. back to anatomy next week.
