You've got some very great designs here mate!. I haven't check your stuff since that vespid drone design. Great to see that you're working on your anatomy to. I had the same problem that you have when going from ID stuff to figure drawing and still struggle with it some times. You shouldn't forget that you have to look for the same basic things like correct proportion, balance and depth when doing figures. Once you find the connection magic starts to happen.
Keep up the great work mate I'll be back soon.

There is no way in hell. No way you could have just now started drawing last September and suddenly your cranking out ID work of this caliber.

Tell the truth you drew all your life but did not know about this particular website. Because how the hell to you know about Syd Mead or how great he is.

IF you actually "just started" man I dont know what I'll do. I just started in November and it shows in my work. Hey maybe you have been blesses with some special talent or something either that or your get being defensive saying "I just started" so people arent that harsh.

Anyways I really am impressed with your ID ideas and your process. I'd be intrigue on how or where you learn some of your ID techniques?

The environments are not as good as the Plane hybrids but they are really quite decent. I cant be too critical about something I dont know much about since I just started.

    Just started Ha and Ha

@NicoRaven: Actually I really started drawing sept last year. Before I did some doodles once in a while without really knowing what I did.
I want people to be harsh, let me know about every single detail I do wrong because I want to improve.
I know Syd Mead because I did my research over the months, I looked up most of the great concept artist and watched their work closely, read books about them, etc.. Also on this forum you can find a huge amount of information about other artists.
I knew this forum a little longer, thats the main reason I started drawing months later
I dont think I have a talent or something, first learn the basics before you start drawing vehicles and all that stuff.

I learned most of Scott Robertson's dvds. First thing I did was learning perspective and some basic forms. I would recommend those gnomon dvds as you will learn LOTS and LOTS. Just read books and look close at how other artists approach their work. I looked at your work, I would start with the basics like perspective(that will also help you with your figures), anatomy, linequality,etc.. You'll be amazed what you can do after those basic exercises, but I see improvement on your latest work.

    good luck!

wow, this is really impressive sketchbook, especially since you've only started drawing seriously a few months ago. You have the raw skill, thats for sure. Just keep refining like your doing. Lot of progression in just this first page. I like that your drawing enviornments along with the figure, I really need to work on enviornments a lot more than I'm doing. Keep working on those anatomy,

    cheers,

I'm not doing much anatomy but here are some sketches from the last weeks.
Been busy with environments and shot design, I'll upload some stuff later.

your studies are paying off, more confidence and actual knowledge of body parts

the scifi designs are getting sharper too, try to minimize your line usage, try to nail as much as possible with one line... you can even mentally draw it before you make the line, "taste" it with your mind and eyes, how will it look etc... usefull sometimes.

keep on working, show more work more learn more

    cheers

your vehicle and droid designs are kicking ass

the latest droid is cute, but its arms dont look too functional, maybe add more details for movement mechanisms, especially near the shoulders and wrists?

keep up the anatomy studies too!

I think those environments are very well done! I love those little thumbnails, I used to do them every day... hey, I'm just gonna start again with them!
Your bots and vehicles are very nice but some of them miss functionality... Some miss joints on places to make their legs move or the armour would keep them from really moving freely. It's one of the hardest parts of concepting but without it your creations are not going to work in "real" life.
Anyway, I can really see a lot of progress in your work, keep at it!

    Cheers!

    @miNze, Cok3: thx

@hurricane: Good point, I need to work on that. But with those thumbs I like the roughness of those lines, I find sometimes new shapes or designs by accident. I'll try to do some cleaner onces too. thx for the crit!

@deadred: You are so wright! I didnt even notice that with the last robot. I need to think more before I put down a line I guess Thx for the reply!

@Gilles: If you have some thumbs dont forget to post them That functionality is hard like you said, I think I should look more at reference.
I'm trying to do those thumbs everyday but again its hard to come up with interesting compositions and designs. thx for the reply!

    Here some more spaceship thumbs.
