As for anatomy stuff: I'm going to grind arms, legs and torso in the coming weeks. Faces will follow next.
As far as improvement is concerned: I don't know if I will noticeably improve in just a few months, but we'll see.
I'm going to give it my best shot!

Here's some demon head designs. Some babyheaded caterpillar or something. Weird and creepy.
And some anatomy to keep the anatomy train going.

1896951I started a small stillife (from life, Dierat , finally!)
    This is two hours in.

Also some creature, kinda sucks but there you go.
Both are acrylics. Both need more work.

Yaaaaaaay I just love still lifes from direct observation!

Looks really good so far. One small crit though is that the top ellipse is slightly asymmetrical, particularly around that pinched area on the right. And the base should be more rounded I think based on the perspective of the top. (If you want to double-check your symmetry without taking a photo and pulling it into Photoshop, you can use a piece of tracing paper to sketch out the shape and flip the paper over to compare.)

Keep up the good work; I can't wait to see it finished!

    Hey guys, what's up?
Dierat: thanks! I'm starting to like it too
I fully agree with your crit, I'll see if I can fix it sometime next week.
I've put only about 1 hour more into it so far, I was busy with other stuff.
I'll take a picture of it later.
The unions are starting to go old. Lol. That's real life I guess. Forever moving.

Here's some stuff. All acrylic painting.
Some landscape study and an update on the dragon with the ship and a start of a bigger landscape,
a painting of a swampy forest area close to where I live. I'm going to go
all Paul Taggart on this. (If you don't know the guy, go check out some
tutorials on youtube, some good stuff!) Also a color circle to see what happens.

Whoa! It's been a while. I must get back into the groove
I decided to finalize the landscape from a few posts back in oils, so here's the first steps in that direction.
Everything is oils now, so from here on it's rendering time
Also some more work on the still life with the onions.

Loove that last piece! The rendering is beautiful and the subtle transition from cool to warm tones is really gorgeous.

dierat: thanks! you make me smile I want to balance the white band of water more because it
disturbs me right now. And I hope to keep a sort of impressionistic vibe to it,
while I keep on refining and rendering this thing.

I didn't get any painting done however, very busy with 2 projects that are currently
under an NDA (non disclosure agreement) but hey, it feels great that people
are actually willing to pay for what I do.

Some sketches I've made in between however.
    Keep it up!

Hey guys, it's been a while.
Here's a bunch of cover designs I've done recently,
for a book that is to be published. It's a small gig,
only 300 books are to be published.
    Still, I'm very happy.

They want to go for the cover with the mummy cyclops.
What do you people think? Any crits/comments are welcome.
I have a lot to learn still.

    Hey dude, nice looking stuff!
Love the latest landscape you did with oils and I like the mummy cyclops drawing also.
I think however you should maybe check it's values a bit. Try adjusting the brightness/contrast in Photoshop, I think it would look better with some higher contrast. More darker darks and more whiter white so to say. Also the other torch-holding arm of the orc looks little bit too short. Meaning from the elbow to the hand. Also try to make some cool hard edges here and there. You could try to make some details and edges e.g. to the orc's armor by using round brush, with shape set to pen pressure and opacity set to 100%. Also you could try doing some hard edges with lasso tool. I like the composition and the mummy cyklops. Oh and also the map is very cool. You keep it up too!

Great work on the map; it looks really clean and professional.

I personally like the dragon image best; I think it really gets your attention. One problem with that comp is that the orc figure is blending into his surroundings, but if you added some lighter values (maybe a secondary frontal lighting) that would really help.

For the cyclops mummy, I feel like the problem with the values is that they're not simplified enough. I would recommend breaking it down into 5 or so values with the lightest shade reserved for just a few very important points that you really want to draw attention to. I also feel like it's a very long composition for a paperback with a lot of empty room up top, more than I would think necessary for the title. Is that intentional? Anyway, great work so far, and I can't wait to see it done!

satu & dierat: thanks for your comments.
I read them in time to take your suggestions into consideration, but I just forgot to reply.
Sorry for that. Sometimes I just read the comments and go
"ah yes, ok, let me ponder that for a while" and then my mind just wanders off.
    Anyway, much appreciated still
