Oblio┤s Editorial Picks (in Finally Finished Section): a rant

While the illustration work is generally good, i find the some photographs that oblio chose are pretty ordinary and boring, especially Klips - Lines & Rekno - Untitled. In general, as good as the rest of the photos are, I don't think they should be chosen for this "Best of" picks, specially considering this is an illustration forum. What will be next? Best autopainted photo of the week?

    that is all.

    1. Klips and Rekno both took photos for a challenge, 'Line'. Of course, the photo's chosen to go into Oblio's post were up to Oblio and so you may disagree on his choice of photo, but he chose it for a reason. Coming back to the 'Line' point; the idea was to submit a photograph with one or more Lines in it - with an emphasis (though maybe not a requirement) on a line that draws the viewer's eyes across the photograph. Maybe Oblio was chosing what he thought best from the challenge, or photographs posted related to the challenge (only one photo is submitted, so often multiple photos are shown in the user's personal thread).

    2. Now I understand this is directed at Oblio, yes? But we can barely say Bogdan Albei's work is sub-par, and if you're still in disagreement look around a little more in Stine's thread. Stine's photographs range from alot more than the photo shown there. Though I'm not accusing you of being an antagonist towards the photo section of the forum, not at all.

Also, aside, what do you mean by 'Best autopainted phot of the week'?

And the final point, 3. If we have a photo-forum, why not showcase it?

I think Oblio's thread is a nice addition to the site, and I like his picks. There's no pleasing all the people alll the time.

I think you are awesome, and I wish you the best in your endeavors, but I am tired of repeating myself, I am very busy with my new baby, and I am no longer a regular participant here, so please do not contact me to ask for advice on your career or education. All of the advice that I have to offer can already be found in the following links. Thank you.

Dude, wait, you're ranting about a favour Oblio is trying to do? No offense, but don't you have better stuff to rant about? Beside which, if Jason didn't think it belongs there it probably wouldn't have been there in any case>>>

    Go draw dude !

I cannot understand your lack of appreciation for photography. It bascially says to me that you do not understand the art of image making, be it photographic or hand painted. Photography has every right to be there with the illustrations, and I'm glad Oblio decided to do so.

hmm dunno why, but I liked the photos.
In fact the latest changes to the forums are quite interesting. I like both ideas (exclusive sketchbookchanges and editorial).
    so yeah, my opinion:
I'm with that idiot... quit whining...

If a thread makes the whole five stars and you don't think it deserves them, you don't make a new thread just to rant about it, you GIVE CRITIQUE...

Gringo, amigo, Oblio's thread isn't about "the Best of" anything-- it's about putting some picks from less-frequented sections and threads into the traffic pattern of the most traveled part of the site. so you won't see any great work that's already been in the FF parade, only interesting stuff from other threads that don't usually get visited as frequently. it's a useful and thoughtful service.

if you want to see other stuff in that thread, make a suggestion (not your own though). my assumption is it's going to be more inclusive than exclusive.
