Max: Yeh I kind of eyeballed them since I was in a hurry, I might go back to it to correct a few things.

Giorge: Hehe actually, I think I got at least one of all already except ChOW

    Anjin: Thanks!

Newman101: Heh it's actually called frog-perspective since it's from low on the ground

Demo: Thanks! You might be right about the guy, I kinda rushed him since I didn't want to spend too much time on that piece.

Nettle Mountain: Yeh I might go back to that one to add some more details into the scene.

    Maeshanne: Thanks

About time I updated this SB again. Been too busy with a couple of other projects that I didn't have much time to draw for myself these past few weeks, but this is what I did for the Thunderdome we had on IRC tonight. Topic was 'Two-wheeled Tractor' with a time frame of an hour.

it's been a bit since I've stopped in... but it reminds me how much I need to practice. Your draftsmanship is always superb and is definitely something to look up to.

Damnit, Yo! I can recognise bits of that tractor!! I like the way that the front wheel is slightly raised while the prongs dig into the earth. Totally the way a two wheeler would react!

Hm haven't been in here for quite a while now, it seems. I've been doing lots of drawing though mostly for projects and work, so didn't have much to upload on here. Figured I'd try and scrounge some stuff together though.

Darknight: Thanks, new round is up now so...

Eugie: Thanks, made me think I should do more quick ID studies in Photoshop one of these days.

Muz: hehe thanks dude, hope you're doing the same down under there

    BohemianChaos: Thanks!

    Mr. Juicy: You're welcome

    mrpank: Thanks!

Alesoun: Haha yeh I guess it could look that way. It was a bit of a lucky touch there though

VogelA: Thanks, I mostly use marker because I am a little impatient when drawing ID stuff and don't feel like grabbing too many tools to do sketches most of the time. I use the pencils for finishing touches usually, or not at all

    So, some updates...

First one is a few sketches done for the current Panels of the Week challenge, with the topic 'Earthquake'. I figured it would be a nice opportunity to work on some ideas I had for a story, and kind of wanted to work it into a sort of epilogue for it to introduce a character. Also just bought two new issues of Hellboy, so I took some inspiration from that Not sure I'll finish it because of lack of time though.

Second one is just a creature I started to sketch but didn't finish. Needed a brake from drawing and thinking about cars for a bit.

This is the project I'm currently working on for Uni. It's a car design course, with a few very specific steps to follow for it. First one is a poster that explains my vision for the car I chose to redesign, the current Saab 9-5, the next one is a bunch of sketches of my design direction and a sort of finalized version. More to come for this, but I felt like giving a little preview on it.

    Yay YOI

I like the car design. It's interesting how it actually resembles a pebble in a stream!

I have to ask though, is that pencil rendering on the bottom? Or is that a super fancy brush to make it look like charcoal?

    Incredibly odd creature too...

Great sketches in here as usual, love the hell out of that tractor (in an hour that's nearly insane). On this SAAB project I have to say I prefer the shape of one of your initial sketches. (middle one on the right) The way the lines of the arches and doors flow together seems to give it more solidity yet movement.

Matte Art: Thanks dude It's a type of felt tipped pen I used there, they make nice texture and shading when being slightly empty.

Young Paddy1: Thanks, yeh the final shape of the car needs more work still. There's a few issues with the package of it too though, since it needs to fit 4 people and some luggage too in the end, and the more rounded shapes make the car huge if they want to be somewhat comfortable Oh, and I'll change the spelling. I tend to make the same mistake quite often it seems...

Some more updates, this time from the Automotive Sketching course. Basically, it's a weekly session of 4 hours sketching cars from a projection on the wall in front of the class. Pretty intense, since we usually only have about 20 to 40 minutes for one page. Shame the course is finished now with the end of the year though.

The first one was one sheet of A2 paper, trying to make a nice composition out of a few sketches makes the studies a little harder but more fun to look at afterwards. Especially if there's a crappy sketch in the top left corner...

I used a little Photoshop on this one to add some color, since I didn't have the proper yellow marker with me and the paper is still A2, making inking it all a little too much work.

Little Photoshop to make the background link both sketches a bit more.

This is my own design derived from an underlayer of a Ducatti Monster motorcycle. 'Monster' here means it's stripped of most of it's panelling and shows what's underneath. The motor was done with marker on A3 format, then added background, texture and some highlights in Photoshop to make it a little more interesting.

...and an oldie of which I finally found the final version of. A less finished version has been in this SB for ages a couple of pages back, but never got a chance to scan the final.

Yoitisi; I've just found an old book in my bookshelves that you might enjoy if you can find it on Amazon. It's "How It Works and How It's Done" by Ellison Hawks, FRAS. Some of the diagrams, photos and illos in it are almost steampunk stuff. As soon as I came across it again, I thought of you!

Edit; I checked, and if you don't go for the one in EXCELLENT condition, it's available and not too expensive. Covers all sort of historical things like wireless, coal mines, cars and yadeyada.

Great stuff, I remember your concept for Baba-Yaga. I particulary like how you made the house, very traditional (keeping the important elements), but at the same time adding some great details.
Your stuff with the cars it's obviously ace.

    Towy, AvisNocturna: Thanks!

Alesoun: hehe thanks I'll check it out in a bit

rossipoo: I'm dry-humping it all I can! Thanks for stopping by

Lennon: Thanks! Sometimes it makes my designs too bland though, so I'm still working on it.

Bartovan: Here's some more inspiration then I hope.

    DanielC: Hey dude, thanks

Corza334, IanE: Thanks for dropping a line in here!

Here's another small update on my Saab project. It's a 2024 concept that forms the inspiration for the 2014 intermediate concept, which is basically the goal of the whole project. The design can use lots more work but since it's only meant as inspiration I'm going to leave it at this now. Need a few more drawings to explain the concept in more detail though, working on that at the moment

The last ones cool, but it looks like it would have a lot of trouble actually functioning
But then again, as you said, its only for inspiration. Looking good!

Teh Gosu: Hey dude yeh doing smooth shiny cars for a change, it's a lot of messing about before anything good turns up at the moment but having fun. Cya at the faculty!

corza334: Hehe yeh steering might be a bit of a problem this way, but the intermediate will have a properly functioning chassis and all. Thanks for stopping by!

Anjin: I dunno, still lots to learn Thanks though.

    patrickdeza: here's some more...

Rear view of the above car. Took me a whole day of fiddling with the design to make them match a little, and I'm still not sure if they totally fit well together but out of time for today. Might come back at it a little tomorrow, since it's kinda messy.
