oh man I love this last post. This last creature looks great - the lighting is subtle but there is some really well-defined form in there. No crits from me, just post some more please!

hey thank you guys for all your nice comments, along the years (wow its more then 4 years since i started the caostuff ) its allways been such a great motivation to come back to my sketchbook and read all your helpful/motivating/interesting/pushing thoughts on my work, everything reaching from a simple "cool" to a 2-page-constructive critique means much and helps a lot on this extremely hard way of doing so many things at once, in the last months everything seems to come together, im finishing my studies succesfully, im having a lot of freelance-comissions, and actually i even managed to start a serious progressive-rock/metal-cd production, that will be finished around mid next year.

why am i talking so much?
well mainly because my trip took me across many complications and forced me to give up nearly my whole free time, i was like a slave to my aims (really in the last 3 months i had a minimum 15-16 hrs working day, sometimes much more but rarely less) been through so much trouble and never seemed to get rid of that extremely exhausting and disgusting feeling of "will i really get where i want to? am i good enough?" and blabla like that, its pretty hard to stay believing in your self, and i bet all you guys know about that - trying to become really good at something (whatever thatis) is a extreme psychological challenge.

again - why do i write all that shit?
because finally after 24 years im finally feeling like i startto put all the pieces together, reach the first big goals i set to myself ages ago. im not a great artist so far, i have a long way to go, but im beginning to earn the fruits of this thousands of hours of neverending work, and there where so many times i was nearly sure i will never do thousand times i was pretty close to quitting it all and stuff

i just want to encourage everybody here who made this same experiences.
keep doing what your doing keep working hard, and to me the most important things of it all:
keep motivated and keep believing in yourself

i know it has been said thousands of times, but it simply cant be said enough, i made this experience and thought it would be helpful to share

thanks man, much appreciated as i just discovered this "diffuse, subtle" lightning thing, definitively will try out more stuff like that

    Velocity Kendall
    haha great paintover, thanks man

    Gadbury
    thanks! glad you like it

    cloudcan
haha yeah man thank you very much

    FallenAngel
oh yes! astrophysics is so great and i would highly encourage you to do both art and science - i made the experience that both areas cooperate great with each other studying physics will give you tons of additional inspiration believe me!

    ---------------------

ok after that much blabla i feel a bit ashamed of not having an equal amount of new sketches for you (but yeah at the end of this year i will finally be able to show you all that freelance stuff ive been doing the past months, cant wait to hear your thoughts on that stuff!!!)

but at least here some new acrylic quickies

I just looked through your sketchbook and your progress is very impressive. I'm amazed at your ability to come up with dynamic and powerful scenes and render them in such an effortless looking way. In the last year or so, your brush work has become much more economical and fluent and your treatment of color in the environments especially looks lush and interesting. Lots of bold experiments and many stunningly great color combinations!

Thanks a lot for your advice on my SB and keep on rocking!

You are achieving a great lighting in your latest pieces. Very good work overall man.
Nice to hear that encouraging words, i“m happy to know you“re getting where you wanted to be. I am in one of these moments when feeling the big puzzle isn“t fitting but hear about other“s work paying off gives me hope and strenght.
    Keep working good!

    thanks mate!

heres the base image, i used a tactic by samsons reaper, had a initial idea, than grapped a random image with a color setting i liked, then transformed rotated and played around with it until i "saw" something, the result is the "iconic" piece above

the photo was shot bymy girlfriend in our local graveyard btw, she makes thousands of photos for my inspirational folder every week, fine girl.

wow nice atmospheres! The one with the tanks is working very well, my favourite. I like the color variations in the chow, the execution (volume, rendering, color) looks amazing. Maybe you could have pushed the design a bit more but with this natural theme i guess the simpler the better. keep working good!

really love the tanks. i like the chow too, but i think the composition needs a slights tweek. it feels like there is too much negative space behind him( mainly behind his head). hmmm or maybe not, anyway i really like the lighting in it

hey everybody, didnt update this thread for a while wich doesnt mean i was unproductive, in fact its the exact opposite.
after studying physics for over 3 years while doing music and art in my spare time, i started to do freelance stuff about two years ago, during the last time physic blocked my time more and more and finally i noticed that i will never become as good as i want with art if i spend up to 16 hours a day with (extremely interesting) physic stuff.

thats why i decided to drop physic, i really want to become a good artist, if thats the price - so be it. anyway, been painting 8-12 hrs a day since octobre and hopefully thats visible in my new work shown below. im preparing a portfolio at the moment and hope to get a good fulltime position next year. well its kind of funny as im going the oposite way then usual, being successfully freelancing for 1 1/2 -2 years now, but i really want to learn from and enjoy the competitive and productive atmosphere of working in a success-driven team of geeks
aside from that im currently trying to push my progressive rock band to the max - ill show you (those of you who are interested in that kind of stuff) the results as soon as their finished.

id really like to hear your thoughts on these new works and my descisions etc

okok so much blabla, finally heres some new work
most is wip stuff, and some more or less finished ones

    -----------------------------------------------------------
comissioned card game artwork that i luckily was allowed to show, website is up soon, ill keep you updated:

    wip

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------
concept art for a personal game projekt (scifi arcade multiplayer spaceshooter)

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    quick sketch

    -----------------------------------------------------------
painting for another personal project (rts game)

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    personal sketch

and finally my favourite image from the past days, comission for that card game
