    Triple A game title

    Here's a stupid question from a pro...

What is a triple A title?
What does triple A stand for?

Please give me some concrete examples of game titles that are triple A and that are out on the market.

What seperates a triple A title from any other game title?

    Thanx,
    Leo

    LOL
    :bash:

    No really, come people.

When looking for work studios say that they are working on a "triple A" title and to get the job you must have experience from working with a triple A title.

If it's "stars" ***** then that's an award. Of course studios can't know that they are working on a triple A game if the game isn't on the market yet to collect awards.

So, what does TRIPLE A (AAA) mean?

    Thanx for serious answers,
    Leo

AAA titles are games that either recieve a full production budget and are followed thru with quality or games that had a great staff who really put their heart into it...thus being fun...beautiful...and often cutting edge.

companies tend to have a batch of AAA titles in development and another batch of B titles...AAA titles get more marketing budget as well as more company resources.

sometimes though...as i have witnessed...a company will spend a boatload of cash on a title but the staff will be monkeymen and overall fools. this leads to a game with lower quality than many of the B budget titles that the quality teams with less staff and less resources put their heart into.

sometimes an AAA title can come from a B quality budget. it depends on the team. earlier in my career i witnessed that as well. its possible....but when the staff is there just cuz they couldnt get a job anywhere else...or because they "knew someone" in the company you will end up with a bunch of people who think they know what they are doing and in fact are just a bunch of hacks wasting company funds.

I prefer a small team of talented and dedicated developers on an interesting title....quality can come from even smaller budgets. tis all about the people there.

from a gamers eyes...and not a developers perspective...it all comes down to whether its one of the best games of the year or not....as mentioned in an above post...whether its FIVE STARS OUT OF FIVE...or not....
