    nice job

i like ur pencil anatomy studies i think u can make for the digital sketches much better
i have the impression that u lose the quality and the precision of ur drawing with the digitals one
i think u have to concentrate on proportions in the digitals (u do it with pencil-> u can do it with graphic tablet)
anyway i like ur work keep going
    for fun & art

seifus - Thank you. I quite agree with you. I think Ijust need to spen more time on the digital stuff to get the quality up. I am just going to keep the push going.

Your paladin better not raise his arms... Heh

On your IDW - if you're gonna mirror your painting, do it before you add the shading and highlights so that your lightsource is unified. Make some small changes to the design itself too so it's not obvious that you did it. The painting technique's not bad, just keep in mind the plane changes and what parts of each shape will be facing towards or away from the light... Painting your shading all at once, *after* mirroring your image will help. Heck, you can even leave the design and pose perfectly symmetrical and just tip your light to the right or left and paint some shadows in, and it'll be more convincing.

nonie - thanks for the crits, that is one of the best and in depth ones I have gotten in awhile. I for going to try all that stuff out, hopefully also pick a more dynamic and interesting pose.

Six Speed - Yeah its alright, Idn though now I have to work twice as hard . I like that it took awhile to get more than one page, it's motivating.

Here be an enviro I be working on.

That's an interesting process, where you block in with straight black and kind of work outwards from there? Or am I totally missing the point? Lol.

You're PS sketches are appealing to look at, even being unfinished, I like them almost as much as pencil sketches. =P Keep goin' =)

drd - thanks, the hardest thing to do is to make a pleasing photoshop sketch. I see people who do it, but they seem to be more painting than anything, I dn, If i am sketching I like to try and do it like I would with a pencil. The silhouette approach is something that is getting more and more widely used. You basically make something that looks cool blocked out in black, and pull out whatever forms or designs you think you could see ontop of the black, its a good way of freeing up your mind and getting shapes you might not normally think up.

here is an update of my E.O.W.

between class speed paint, tear it apart, it shows how much I still have to grow... Not self defecating here, just understanding that I need to get better at laying in form and gesture quicker

i see ur improving joe, id pay closer attention to saturation of color and you probably already know this one but put warm colors in your highlights and sneak some cool colors in your darks.complementary too. um i was about to say that it looks like you jump to texture from the EOW post, but then i saw your laying in of the solid colors. i think you need to use a more opaque brush setting and i dont know what brush setting you use, but for the mechanical looking man with all the red, i would say that a very thin elliptical, diagonal/slanted brush would make it easier to put in small details as well as long expressive strokes. something i would like to see more in your work is shadows, i think you have the lighting part down but i think better use of shadows will push your work further.

    ok =) good luck man

darkartist3 - I quite agree with your crits, I usually stick to one brush for the most part so I do need to change it up, a lot of times I am just afraid to kill the piece by pushing the darks to far, or the lights to far, but I do need to be more bold,

anyhoo here is a quick sketch I did today

Very nice updates since I've last seen...

I really am a fan of the IDW that you did the giant excavator... I agree with the critique given... but I still really like it the way it is...

one last update before bed, more work on ther project I am working on, took some of those thumbs, and started playing around with them in photoshop. I know that you shuld not flip half and move it over to make it symetrical, but on some of these I got some new shapes from the thumbnails I am not sure I would have gotten otherwise, quite an interesting result haha.
