.l.i.n.e.a.n.d.c.o.l.o.r.
Hello everyone. I've only been here for a relatively short while, and haven't posted a lot, but I've been drawing ever since I was old enough to pick anything that would make a mark. I've only been really serious about art for a couple of years, but I've still made a lot of improvements and hope to make more. C+C is welcomed, invited in and served the world's best hot chocolate, so please feel free
.
At the moment, I'm making a series of sketches and speedpaints focused on a series of pictures I found on Google of a lovely girl in a kimono. I'm working on another one right now, but it'll take much longer because I have an essay I need to write.

Quick sketch in the series.

My biggest beef is how blurry our speed paintings are. take it one step further when you do them, give them more definition ( or at least some sharper edges ) and then we'll see what comes out of it!
I for one would love to see the end result.

Icon: Thanks so much for the advice and the encouragement.
I tried it in this picture...but I'm not so sure it turned out well...
There's just something about her face that I really don't like. It seems kind of...plasticky to me. Maybe I overworked it too much.

These are looking solid. Maybe there should be more of a background there to give it a sense of place. Good start to a sketchbook, looking forward to more!

Bendragon: Thank you!
I don't like the face on this picture. It drove me insane.

This is the first version of the picture I'm doing; I'm also going to do a version in color.
Three things I currently need: food, sleep, and to not take myself so seriously. XD

Previous sketch, except in color. I like the way this one turned out. =D

I really, really like the way this one turned out, especially the colors. =D

katsgod: Thanks!
Japanese street fashion, instead of a girl in a Japanese kimono. How original. XD By the way, if anybody wants the full sized psd of these pictures, I'll post them here. Just be aware that most of the jpgs I've posted are full size, and that technically my art isn't made much differently from anybody else's on CA.

Cool, keep it up!
On these, the biggest thing you could do is refine and distinguish your shapes from one another. Edges are key in this. You are using photoshop right? Don't be afraid to go back in with a harder edges brush and clean things up a bit

Idiot Apathy: Thank you so much! I tried that in this picture, it didn't turn out half bad. =^_^= By the way, I love your stuff.
Yes, the face was left out on purpose. I meant the illustration to look similar to the paperdolls that used to be semi-popular. I didn't use a reference for the pose -dun dun duuuuuun-. I did use reference for the clothes. The shirt and skirt are stuff I found in the Baby the Stars Shine Bright website. I hate to confess it, but I have a little weakness for Japanese lolita fashion. DX I have no money to buy anything with so much lace, and I'm not that girly, but sometimes it's nice to paint and look at clothes that decadent. For when I feel pretty, oh so pretty.

A little speedpaint for the start of spring. =D Also a test painting to see if I still suck. Which I do. >_< At least now I can stop complaining about it.
By the way, this is a half-size picture. I still have the full sized psd though, so if you want that, I'll post it here.

keep it up and your dreams will come true, lol
...no really

my favorite is definitely the first one. It's not as blurry and messy as the other ones & it just has a nice happy feel to it. =)

H4ze: errrrrrrrrrrrrrr....thank you. ^^;
28chelseaslater: Yea, much as I love my other paintings, that one has a special place in my heart.
This one was also posted in the sketches/wip forum, but I also wanted to post it here.

These are looking nice! Keep it up! In general (and its probably because your looking at photos) they all seem a little flat. Maybe try thinking more in terms of planes and larger box and spherical forms. If your into it, I like seeing WIPS! Thanks for sharing!

bbassir: Actually, the last couple haven't been from photos. But you're right, they do look a little flat. I'll work on it.
Small speedpaint from today.

Another speedpaint.
Because I love Indian clothes. =D
I want that sari.

Experiment with only a few colors.
