    Love this:

The flight of the conchords sketch is fun, too. I really dig your style. If I had one thing to say that might prod you, I might be so bold as to say that your style hasn't lent itself to a great deal of motion and action, but I think you could pull it off. The payoff would be incredible, methinks.

Definitely looking forward to seeing more!

    Thanks guys!
EricElwell - you're right, I do tend to shy away from action/motion - working on a book at the moment though, loads of action and I'm really enjoying it!

You have a really smart sense of color and light, and it's evident even in the cartoony stuff. This last one is a real treat. A continuation of the story?

Hey man, I hear you on the action thing. It's good to hear you're exploring action, it will definitely widen your horizons.

But here's my two cents. While doing action, there's always a concern regarding the figures being in perspective. Even though that is important, I'd like to point out the obliqueness that I think is suffused in your art. You have a way of hitting gravity in tangents, an effortless defiance of classical composition values. It makes your work really stand out, and the same time gives it an authenticity; like when in life drawing sometimes we defy the rules when we see the situation in front of us isn't measuring up to a certain art law.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, don't get too caught up in trying to get things 'right' in action shots. I've gone down that road and suffered severely. And with that I shall end my rant. It has been quite long, especially considering I haven't seen your new action pieces yet. Which makes me feel a little stupid now to be honest.

NickyBeats - Yeah I love those games, cheers man!

    GEB -

nim - Thanks Nim, I love working like this!

p sage - Slowly plodding on with the story, but everything else is getting in the way haha.

    Jeremy Swan - Thanks!

    cl0aked - Thank you.

Vritra - Not at all man, it made total sense to me. I'm trying to make the action as equally abstracted as the way in which I paint - so I'm looking towards Bryan Lee O'Malley and Osamu Tezuka for inspiration, as opposed to Marvel or DC style

bouroune - Coming from a master of simplicity and efficiency - you humble me Sir!

    So, exciting times!
The first image is going to be exhibited and auctioned off at the Society of Illustrators NYC in January!

I'm selling Giclee prints of the Back to the Future illustration, and all of the profits are going to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research. Head over to my blog and pick one up!

The last few updates are, as usual, incredible. I love the action piece, it's got so many things to rest your eye on once you've seen the major thrust of the action, so to speak.

It's a pleasure coming back to your sketchbook.

EDIT: The fox reminds me of a DOLOR cover, somehow.

Damn, you achieve so much form with just a slightly dirty texture. That is mostly done through custom brushes, right? Or do you apply texture? Either way it's amazing.

One of my favourite sketchbooks on CA.

Vritra - It depends what I'm trying to achieve really, I have a few custom brushes made by scanning traditional media applied to rough paper, but I also use textures laid on top of certain parts as well - glad you like what's coming out
