How much time did you take painting the digitals?
Thanks for stopping by! I´m kind of a beginner in painting the environments so for example the first pano took a lot of time to produce. Maybe about 15 hours. But I´m happy that I didn´t quit (usually I get frustrated and stop). I need to work with lights and shadows more as well as with colour. The Lagoon took about 8 hours (slow slow slow) and the small Balcony -sketch maybe 5. I think I need to start practicing speed painting as well..

    Edit:
And I learned about perspective from Conceptart.org. There´s a thread here that´s called Perspective 101.. That has been helpful for me.

Ok. I haven´t done much since the last posts but I have to update. I´m not 100 percent happy about how these 2 turned out but of course only practice makes one better. I spent about 2 hours on the first and maybe 90 minutes on the second. Oh yeah and try to imagine some people on the background of the second pic.. I´m just in a far too unproductive mood right now that I´m going to leave these be. And I´m aware of the weird anatomy the first figure has.

Your grayscale painting at the top was very interesting for me, as it suggested a theme or narrative(?) Very Cool!

Keep up the good work ReefFrog. Try to do more landscapes with some visually striking things in it. Overall a well begun sketchbook.

This is not actually sketchbook material but I´ll post it here for your amusement anyway. I edited a trailer from the movie Slumdog Millionaire to fit the song that I´ve made.

    Here it is:

Update after a long while... Made this with Sculptris last night. I'm pretty happy with it since for me this is the first time using a 3d-sculpting software of any kind. I didn't know sculpting is so damn fun.

Thanks for the comment. I'll have to see if I can figure that upload thing out.

Hmm... Seems like I suck at uploading pics here so here's another one from another host. I made this with Sculptris and Photoshop.

Some sketches and some finished pieces. All of the songs are mine too. I'll have to divide these pics and videos to numerous posts due to the restrictions of the forum (in regards of the videos per post).

    edit:

The video embedding doesn't seem to be working so I'll just post the links.

It's always nice to hear that one's stuff inspires someone. I'm still practicing. It takes ages for me to finish these pics (9-10 hours for the ocean pic) and I use a lot of photos as a reference, especially with the last 2 pics. It's quite fun to play around with Google Street View actually. My mental library isn't that impressive, I'll have to learn to rely on my imagination more etc. On a positive side I've noticed that I've become a lot more patient with making pics, it was rare before that I would be sitting even for 3 hours on one pic.

Practicing the Ghibli-look with the aide of Google Street View. I used the tree in the movie Totoro as a reference for the tree in this pic. My version of the tree isn't a direct copy paste mind you:

One more sargent practice. Should use some other artists as well...

I was concentrating on the face a bit more and didn't try to copy it 1 to 1.

Updated the statue and made the chair a bit more "normal looking".

I'd love to get some feedback on some of the main reflections. I haven't used any reference for the reflections (or shadows) and I think that it shows. So tips and pointers would be welcome.
