    General Silus' advance

Hello everyone. I am posting another "keyframe" of my Senior Thesis project story.
After betraying the people of the "High World", General Silus has returned to the people of the Dark Lands. There he has become one with darkness and gathered his army. Taking advantage of Sagrajas' (the Dark priest's) dark cloud that blocks everything from sunlight, Silus now advances towards invasion of the High World to reclaim of the land that belonged to them in the first place.

    Name: GENERALFIRE.jpg

    UPDATE

Here is the image of General Silus as Chief Military General for the people of Light.
This is before he betrays them and becomes the being you see in the first image by binding to darkness.
    Feel free to comment.

Dude...NICE!!! I love this piece! I like the creatures you have in the background...and I think you did a great job and creating a nice sence of scale and distance. Kudos! (right click save to inspiration folder)

Nice piece. I like the characters background story. Keep it up and do post more pieces, especially if theyre affiliated to this one.

Nice job on the head man. Love your choice of colours, the colours of the head just scream evil, and really makes you focus on the character.

Thanks everyone. I just did a couple of changes to the piece. The shoulder now feels a bit more volumetric.

Bradh898, I love that you said the head "screams evil". That is a really awesome thing to hear in the context of my story.

    excellent~

thats an amazing piece of work,
i love the colours used, the background is very bleek and gives
almost a antichrist lik appearance to the General.
    very interesting story,
you should use it in your next few pieces,
    keep it real!

I don't understand why there is not many comments. This work are really good. Enchanted to see the background. Just the spear of the vessel that goes out the canvas is a little disturbing. Very nice armour style.

That is a very nice piece of art!

The only thing that bothers me is that his armour feel a bit flat.

What a villainous scheme - the advancing druid skull, ever watchful. I would suggest more proportional wisps of his ice flamed hair to flow this way and that away from his form and toward beyond. No other complaints.

    Keep doing you

    Really great piece.

I would suggest perhaps some more definition for the nose nostril area as to me it kind of looks like one large nostril and I can't make out the division (septum?), that’s my only suggestion.

    To the air...

Thanks a lot to everyone who is posting comments, they are incredibly appreciated! They are excellent comments as well.
This is only one piece from many that I have been doing (and will do) in my narrative, so you'll be looking at more scenes from the story. Since I am actually trying to write the story from scratch, it's a bit harder than usual, with nothing to fall back upon until I have that part of the narrative resolved.
    Thanks again, everyone! amazing response.

I saw these posted on the school of ill blog, and I have to say that the revisions that you've made to the general since then have improved it a lot. Before he could have been a dignitary or bureaucrat, and now he has more of a sense of grandeur about him. Amazing stuff, can't wait to see the whole story in action!

Great work, Piero. You already know what I think, but these are definitely the best paintings I've seen from you.

...The gloves still aren't 100% convincing on the normal general though. Especially the left one (our left) They just look like painted hands. Sorry, I know I've given you a lot of shit about them.

Well, I shouldn't comment too much... The monitors at school are horribly calibrated. (especially the ones in the Fine Art studios)

very nice mood on the first pic, it only makes me want to see more so i'm a bit disappointed on initial impression...

once the thesis project is done i'd like to see all of it together.

the second is really good mood as well, the stylized lips are a bit off putting, i would like to see just a couple more folds in the gloves to make them look less rubbery but other than that its coming off really smooth.

You do fantastic work! I need to stop coming around here... you people are encouraging me to work at developing my enfeebled drawing skill while exams are looming ahead.

I can't say enough good things about your portfolio. Keep up the terrific work!

Woooow. Impressive. The lighting on the second piece is really nice. His jaw/chin seems abnormally long though. It's a little distratcting. That first piece is PERFECT though. I really love it. The way you handled the blue flames and the face couldn't have been done any better. I'm jealous. Can't wait to see more from ya!

I absolutely love these pieces, they're just perfect! On the second piece, the figure has a whole lot of character, you've presented him so well! The works match the story so well too! Great job, really great!
