The trailers are pretty... definitely pretty. I'll be going to see it when it comes out.

I think this review sums up my expectations perfectly:

I think the CG looks overdone. To the point where I wonder if they even film on an actual set, or if they just blue screened it all! Regardless, it does look interesting.

I dunno if it will be very epic, deep, historically accurate, or what all. But it does look like there's gonna be plenty of hackin' & slashin', so I'm sold.

IGN says, "Snyder has crafted a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that is unlike any movie audiences have seen, and in so doing he may have sealed his own fate as a possible redeemer of modern moviemaking."

Good to hear, was starting to fear that it may just be the trailer that is groundbreaking. That NIN track helped it on quite a bit, hope it will feature in the movie as well - makes for a powerful complement to the visuals.

actually the only minor problem i have is some of the additions they have made to the story, they added some elements that make it more fantasy.. which seems abit needless its a cool story as it is.

You guys realize that this is based on Frank Millers graphic novel right? Miller's version of the battle of Thermopylae was fantasy driven. Most of the filming was done on green screens much like Sin City. I can't wait to see this on the big screen. Unfortunately it doesn't look like they'll be showing it on the IMAX screens in Seattle:/

Right. Miller took quite a few liberties. I'm pretty sure no one had battle rhinos, or mutants, or giants. Keep an eye on the history channel, they might take this as opportunity to air some of there Sparta shows. The Sparta civilization was quite fascinating, very similar to the Sith. There is an old movie about the 300 spartans that may be more historically accurate. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055719/

I don't care, I just want to watch a bad ass movie. If I want historical accuracy I'll watch the History channel or read a book.

I haven't seen a truly badass movie since "Kill Bill" , this better not suck.

I just hope the multi-CG effects don't wear its novelty out a la Sky Captain and Sin City...

Actually, I've seen the latter half of the movie. From what I saw, no, it's not really very accurate.

Especially when it comes to culture. There's a female interest in there who seriously acts all helpless and domesticated. Historically, Spartan women were known for their impressive athletic abilities and not for being cuddly.

Also the acting is pretty bad sometimes.

Persian King: "Oh noes! What will we do?!"
Some Lady: "Well, you could retreat."
    Persian King: "I can't retreat!"
Some Lady: "Say that you had a vision of the gods, and your ancestors instructed you to return home and raise a new army."
Persian King: *assumes a triumphant stance* "HAHA! I'm a genius!!"

Well, maybe I paraphrased a bit here and there... heh.

    I'm looking forward to it.

And yeah, that old "The 300 Spartans" movie was pretty decent, a lil slow moving sometimes, but a nice lil historical war movie, considering the times.

You know... speaking of the NIN music on the trailer...

I'll be happy as long as they don't start blaring Linkin Park or Godsmack music during the fight scenes and Spartan poster boys posing n such.

I hope they keep it gritty and EPIC!

You are a level 8 ninja and even though you have a lot of weapons sometimes your ninja moves are your most powerful.

This movie is going to be AWSOME. My brother hates the lighting of it and the fact its almost all greenscreen, but that's an advantage imo
