    Hello Friends of LAAFA,
    Come join us during LAAFA's Open House this April 26th, 11AM-4PM! Meet some of our instructors, view students' artwork, meet with a counselor and register for classes. There will be refreshments and a free uninstructed workshop during this time. Bring your materials and draw or paint from a model.

    National Portrait Gallery Competition

    The Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery is asking artists all over the country to enter the Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition 2009. The competition is open to portraits in all visual arts media. Please make sure that your students know about this opportunity.



    The call for entries will be this summer, from June 2, 2008 – July 31, 2008.



    The first prize will be $25,000. The winner and 50 to 60 finalists’ work will comprise a major exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, opening in October 2009.

    Most pieces were created during these students first year in the Atelier program. A couple of the paintings were created by Eric Pedersen in the first quarter of his second year.

    We are starting the next Atelier Group July 28th! If you have any questions about the program you can call up Matt Marchant, the Director of the School, and he will answer any questions you may have.
