    Question Puzzle game concept art

This is my first attempt at an art design for a game I'm working on with some friends, also my first time posting here after a long period of lurking. The blue/white circles are going to be icons that may or may not contain numbers. I'd like to change the shape of the orange game board to that of something suggesting a cell phone or PDA, but am afraid if I elongate it too much it won't work as a game board anymore. What I want to know is whether it brings any thoughts to mind at all when you view it, and if there are resources specifically on puzzle interface design. I've been Googling but haven't found anything useful. This is my first project that has amounted to anything, and though this is a very early stage, I'd appreciate any critiques or advice you can spare.

I think graphic design and composition will be more of an influence on your design. I suggest investigating various color schemes - there is a nice book "color in design" by David E. Carter
