They're quite interesting photos, not just due to the whole contrast between the flowers and the sky (well, not quite contrast, but the flowers do definately stand out quite strongly), but also the sort of 'powdery' effect in the photo. Would you mind telling us just how you got them looking like that?

Both the photos seem quite samey; which isn't necessarily bad, it just means that it kind of dilutes the photographs, if you understand what I mean. I personally prefer the first photo, myself.

And of course, welcome to the forums and please post more photos as soon as you can. I'll also be checking out your sketchbook.

(Link to both your sketchbook and your photothread in your signature. It makes it easier for everyone to hunt them down if they want to.)

    Hey Rhynome.

The photos are curved to mimic a cross-processed effect in film development. Its done with a single curve adjustment layer. I picked it up here : http://www.photoshopsupport.com/tuto...rocessing.html and I just modify the curves to fit the look I want for each image.

Thanks for your note on the signatures, I'm going to figure out the forum options now and add a signature.

I think the noise in the photo makes the clouds look more like smoke. Don't get me wrong though I think it is a great photo, just a little dark in the clouds.

yeah, the noise annoyed me too. It was on a decently high iso, but I punched the curves alot, contrast and stuff made it bad. Thanks for your comment.

    Renko,

Nice work. Like yourself a few days ago, I'm a newbie with a tendancy to the photographic side. I like your shots 'cause they include one of my fav subjects - shots with sky & sky backdrops.. (don't know why). Anyway as my offical first post I thought I'd throw a pic in for good measure.

    More pics if you please...

The light in post #5 is awesome. That cloud makes a nice contrast.

Thanks. There's been some rain in Los Angeles lately, giving us some great clouds.

I think the colors in your photos are great. Nice work! Do you have a larger version of the palm tree with the power lines, I would love to use that as my background.

love the birds, palm tree and this last one
As far as photoshop, I do use the curve and level adjustements, and a fill color on top (usually a deep red) at a very low opacity difference layer...gives it that nice film look

    nice stuff
