I usually go for Metal or Classical.

Better yet, a combination of Metal and Classical (re: Symphony X or Metallica "S&M")

Right now I'm listening to Megadeth's album "Cryptic Writings". One of their best, in my honest opinion.

Other bands in my music folder:

    Rock

    ACDC
    Avenged Sevenfold
    Black Sabbath
    Guns 'n Roses
    Iron Maiden
    Jimi Hendrix
    Judas Priest
    Korn
    Led Zeppelin
    Metallica
    Pantera
    Pink Flyod
    The Rolling Stones
    Slipknot
    System of a Down
    Type O Negative

    Classical

    George Gershwin
    Tchaikovsky
    Verdi
    Beethoven
    Bach
    Samuel Barber

-My work can be found at my local directory thread.

i like all types of music...
what i listen to when i work depends on the mood i guess.

    http://www.pandora.com/ is a pretty
neat site where you can find some new bands. sometimes you wonder why
they put a certain band with the one you chose...but sometimes you
    hear somethin new. kinda cool

i love a mix of a lot of things =]

jazz and blues, oh andyouve got to love the blues brothers films soundtracks hehe, i love tower of power, and i play drums in a big band which plays jazz, blues funk, that type of thing

i also love the funkier, or more fun side of classical, theres a lot of great film soundtracks i love like amelie, chocolat, pirates of the caribbean, a very long engagement, and i also play in numerous symphonic wind ensembles and other things along those lines, so anything thats fun to play, although i play violin , im not too fond of dainty sounding string pieces

youve got to love some of the golden oldies of pop, i love a bit of 80's - soft cell and the likes hehe

heavier side, metal etc, i love avenged sevenfold, AFI etc
less heavy- coheed and cambria, hundred reasons, aaand my favourite band is incubus

    hahaha, king daimond.
seriously he's got some of the coolest lyrics, awesoem metal.
    don't forget mercyful fate.

can't get enough of the song "welcome home"

anyways i'm mostly into Metal and hardcore punk.

    top metal favorites are

    celtic frost (most favorite)
BATHORY (swede legend) RIP Quorthon '05
    iron maiden
    mayhem
    Venom
    darkthrone
    halloween
    king daimond
    sauron (Lansing, Michigan)
    kreator
    sodom
    W.A.S.P.
    Cannibal corpse
    NILE
(old) slayer, their new stuff after reign in blood were just horrible.

    PUNK favorites

    Hellshock
    phobia
    G.I.S.M.
    extreme noise terror
    hellbound/after the bombs
    order of the vulture
    dischange
    anti-cimex
    victims
    wolfbrigade/wolfpack
    black uniforms
    CRASS

i despise most modern major label music, too many sellout bands that aren't even that good. Punk stays underground and non-corporate, metal...i stick to european bands since they tend to be more talented and interesting than the like here in america.

www.somafm.com = really really good SanFran-based 24hr internet radio show, no commercials.... if you don't know about it it's a MUST .. there's several ongoing genres there from IndiRock to Experimental Techno to Ambient.. my fav show up there is GrooveSalad (it's a groove salad)
"CliqHop" is abstract and fresh experimental electronique.
    Great studio-work music!

    cheers,
    camilo

To be honest, there's not much that I /won't/ listen to, except for really redneck country or RnB (srsly, don't like it.) Though I do end up listening to some of the same kinds of stuff. Just grindcore/mathcore, indie, and reggae stuff are what I'll generally drift towards.

Pretty wide-ranging (or at least I'd like to think it is. heh).

Alt-rock, industrial, punk and hardcore/whatever-subgenre-ends-in-the-word-'core' mostly, with some sprinklings of metal. Also rather big on a lot of electronica from psytrance to ambient to breaks to drum n' bass to EBM etc. etc. etc. Then I've also got a penchant for any kind of classical music.

I listen to the streams on digitallyimported (http://www.di.fm) a lot, there's some great electronic selections there.

Mine is sweet, sour, kinda like beer, with an extra punch that hits you on the face at the end Seriously, is more of a progressive metal/rock thing, recently:
    Sonata Arctica
    Royal Hunt
    Stratovarius
    Angra
    Rhapsody of Fire

and of course, here and there, sometimes, a bit of RPG music, especially the Final Fantasy series.
