Its' free and it takes less than 10 seconds!
I'm very new to the digital media scene and I;m just cutting my teeth, getting myself set up for a year of intensive training. I was wondering what canvas settings I would need to create a detailed beautiful image to print to A4 size including what DPI I would need. Any information would be great!
Open the new Canvas and in the Width and Height fields, type the dimensions in whatever unit of measure you use for the printed image. Since I use the English version, in the U.S., I'd use inches.
Then type the Resolution number (ppi, or pixels per inch). A generally safe Resolution is 300 ppi.
If you're going to have your image printed at a print shop, before you begin, talk to their expert to learn what PPI to use when opening the new Canvas. You may not need such a Resolution as 300 ppi. Tell them what kind of art it will be (i.e. soft watercolor, an image with sharp detail, etc.), how it will be viewed (at what distance), how large you want the print to be, and on what kind of surface you want it printed. They should be able to help you get started on the right foot, so to speak.
Thankyou for your reply! Will do.
