Sweet, thanks for choosing my topic.

If anyone's stumped/confused, the whole idea was 'Nanotech Gardener': In charge of maintaining a garden full of species that are part-organic part-machine.

I assume it's pretty well open for interpretation, though (as usual).

    Cheers!

I'm in. The concept should prove fairly challenging to pull off, so it will be a good learning experience.

The gardner being built/enchanced by nano technology could in other words look just like a ordinary person since nanos are too small to be spotted by the eye but that wouldn't be creative now would it? Something really sci-fi then, eh, perhpas something along the way of star trek 'borgs'? sounds fun

or maybe the gardeners are shrunk by the amazing shrinkydinkydoo ray to work in their 'fields'...hhmmmm?
    then they're adequate size. lol.

yeah, I'm a little confused by the topic, too. the description would be more accurately titled: "cybernetic gardener" otherwise, all of the action would require electron microscopes to see.

Wouldn't it be "bio-tech" gardener? I agree... "nano" denotes little teeny plants... or a little teeny gardener...

... and I guess if I'm gonna nitpick the topic, I might as well participate...

When I suggested it I was just brainstorming.

My thoughts were the garden is the nanotech part. This doesn't necessarily mean the plants are small. It could be a combination between nanotechnology and organics.
Also, if you combine lots of small things and you get something big. You're the scientist here, you define what your tiny bots will do. They could well work as a team and construct a mobile feature around the plants, or manipulate them from the inside out. They can do anything you make them.

The idea was inspired by something I read long ago about experimentation with a partially organic computer that evolved by itself. It was probably fiction, but hey...

If you're really stuck just make a Biotech Gardener.

    Edit:

Yea, even though she managed purely organics (I think?), that's a fair example of an appropriate character.
